Because I not only grew up in the birthplace of American music, but on a working soybean/wheat/cattle farm in a dirt poor county, Mississippi runs deep. Made in Mississippi is a song that I didn't have to dig to write. I live right outside Meridian now, the birthplace of Jimmy Rodgers, and while he's definitely an influence the very soul of this place is the thing that affects my music the most.
I started my first band in college, climbed the Nashville ladder, and played cover songs for money to raise my kids. Now I'm older, maybe wiser, and having an absolute ball writing and performing my own tunes.
My writing is very eclectic, from straight ahead blues rock in Made in Mississippi to NOLA jazz-blues in 'I Remember', I take it Bluegrass-Rock on 'The Hills and the Hollers' and alt-country on 'Out of Beer'. My shows are like the weather in Mississippi...it's gonna change in the next five minutes.
I'm currently recording my first album, slated to release spring 2013 and putting together a band to start touring in support of it.
I'm also currently working on a publishing deal and hope to have that in place soon.
