Bio

Steve is a singer, songwriter and performer based in Ennis, Texas. Steve grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He began playing guitar at eight years of age. He played in his first band at 19. His musical influences were his banjo-playing grandfather, George and the sound of big band swing music, which echoed throughout his home as he grew up. Growing up in Texas exposed him to the unmatched Texas Swing sounds credited to acts like Bob Wills, Asleep at the Wheel, George Strait and others. He developed a love for real country music and a desire to preserve and carry on the tradition set forth by these great artists. At age 24 Steve was offered his first road tour playing acoustic guitar and singing background vocals for country recording star, Mark Chesnutt, who had at the time two Platinum and three Gold Albums. He traveled and performed with the band for almost three years appearing to thousands of fans in major venues throughout the United States and Canada. They also appeared on TV shows like Austin City Limits, The Tonight Show, The Regis & Kathy Lee Show, and others. He also traveled on tour with Country recording artist Pam Tillis' Band.
No question about it, Steve Wood is a seasoned country western performing artist with a great personal vocal style and a mellow voice. "I met alot of great fans of true country music while I was on the road, I now want to share with them the songs I know they will love."
