"Steve York at the Drake"

"...The Zack Braff of the music scene. Lead singer Steve York adorably bopped around, while Tarik the guitarist flashed me a debonair smile. This is a bunch of swell guys you'd like to bring home to mom.
"...The audience was awash with crazy glam chicks whooting and gyrating. Who could blame 'em? The band was tightly regimental with a wealth of melodic knowledge. You gotta love a band who simply names a song "Pants". Steve on harmonica / tambourine freestyled it like it ain't no thang!"
"Confined to the teeny-tiny second stage, Steve was having none of that shiznat. As a biatch slap to the stage designer, he jumped out of the tiny box and worked the crowd old school. His 'model citizen' cropped t-shirt should have just said 'model'. Value village shoes..wierd tattoos, dripping sweat. These guys were the sexiest bunch who ever sexed up The Drake." -reviewer: Christine Estima - www.chartattack.com/DAMN/2005/03/0525.cfm

Bio

Steve York hails from Toronto, Canada, where his songwriting and stage presence have earned him a loyal following in the city's indie rock scene for more than a decade. A musical child, Steve received his first standing ovation on piano at age eight; by fifteen, he was rocking the legendary blues venue Grossman's Tavern with his unique vocal style. A veteran of several succesful indie bands, including Sunk in Savage Torpor (SST) and The Pinch, Steve has evolved into a charismatic front man, producer, event organizer and prolific songwriter. Steve is a regular feature of the city's hottest venues, where he brings people together hosting dynamic open mic sessions that capture the spirit of the new music scene.
Steve's first solo CD, "Beautiful", is the work of an artist who has truly come into his own. The songwriting comes from his heart - it's honest and makes you feel good. The sound is progressive. The songs are original. The music is upbeat like the artist himself. Let "Beautiful" bring you to your feet.
