"NIGHTLIFE - Local beats"

Band: Stevie Capo Project
Members: Steve "Stevie" Capo (vocals, guitars, songwriting); Kevin Hocker (drums); Gary Schutt (bass)
Base of operation: Sarasota
When formed: 2007
Style/genre of music: rock
Bio: Sometimes music won't quit. In the case of Bronx, N.Y.-born Capo, who grew up and performed during the '70s and '80s rock music turnaround, that now-classic sound never retired. After picking up a guitar during childhood and learning to sing, he chased rock-star dreams into Europe and back, in assorted bands, then landed in Sarasota 15 years ago. The Suncoast's other transplanted entertainers kept Capo's creativity engaged until his urge to create became too great. Real-life experiences fueled the lyrics and time-warped, L.A.-rooted riffs on his first-ever CD, "Too Late," released in February. Except drums and bass (performed by Hocker and Schutt), Capo completed everything except engineering. The Budweiser-sponsored Stevie Capo Project will recruit a guitarist for a summer European tour but plans to perform in Sarasota before departing.
Quote: "I try to write stuff with meaning," Capo says. "I also like catchy. ... But I don't like to do the screaming stuff. I'm really into stuff where you can hear the words. You can hear the guitar music but not overpower it by drums and cymbals, you know. I'm trying to get it so people can at least sing along to it."

Stevie Capo Project - Too Late CD, on,,,,

Stevie Capo, I have been playing Guitar and singing since I was very young, I grew up in the Bronx, N.Y. then my family moved to Yonkers, N.Y. when I was 8 yrs old, I spent alot of time in New York City in my teens & twenties, I always loved Rock & Blues Music, I toured and back-up many well known bands in the pasted and traveled the world my influences were The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen etc., I took a brake from music in the late 90's and early 2000's and finally said wow I need to play again and Rock the world so I built a Recording Studio and formed a Publishing Company and figured why not get a band together and rock again, this is what I love most is to entertain people and make new music so I did what I dreamed of doing and now we are going to record our new Blues CD in April, due out this summer and looking forward to touring soon, hope to see friends and new faces in the crowds around the world and always "Rock On".

Kevin Hocker, Starting out like most drummers, I played the pots and pans at the age of 4 and 5 years old. Then receiving my first drum kit at the age of 7 from my grandmother, I couldn't believe the power that I felt while jamming on that Mickey-mouse drum kit! I knew that this was for me. Since then I've been through; Ludwig, Tama, Pearl, Yamaha, I prefer Zildjian cymbals. Working my way through talent shows and bar bands throughout my High School years until turning pro in 1982. I made a living the hard way on the road. Some of my biggest influences were; Ozzy, ACDC, Dio, Tommy Aldridge, Who, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The list goes on and on. A chance encounter in the fall of 2006 brought myself and Stevie together. The second the Marshall Amps fired up and the thunder of my Yamaha drums kicked in, we knew we had a winning combination. together with our vast experience in the music business, it was decided to take on this new rocken project. Now that our CD has just been released, we're looking forward to starting our next project that will be even better. Take care and ROCK-ON.

Gary Schutt, Born and raised in Monticello, NY started playing along to Bay City Roller's records on his fathers drum kit before his feet could reach the pedals. Since he participated in every musical and concert in high school (either on drums or guitar), Gary learned that he loved how it felt to entertain people. Once establishing himself as a well-rounded guitarist at Berklee College of Music, Gary participated in countless recitals, concerts and studio sessions. Although known as a confident guitarist on campus, Gary led a handful of recitals on vocals, played drums in a couple of shows and played bass for the popular local band IN THE PINK. As of the end of 2004, Gary has done 3 world tours as bass player/ lead guitarist/ acoustic guitarist for Jeff Scott Soto (former singer for (Yngwie Malmsteen & Journey), Gary has performed in Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, England, Ireland, Brazil and Australia.
