"MolsonCoors"

"We at MolsonCoors support live music, like we support hockey. MolsonCoors is proud to associate any event with STICKS. We at MolsonCoors like to be innovative and on top of new trends and this is exactly what STICKS brings to the table. We're always challenged to drive traffic to our accounts that we support and when you mention that STICKS is playing, it becomes a much easier sell. - Mike Fougere

"One Life Surf School"

“When I book music, I have a few things in mind: my audience, event objectives, music quality, entertainment value and overall picture. STICKS has the whole package. First of all, he is a gem to book – fast to reply and very gracious; secondly, his set up (large drum kit) is visually intriguing to audiences and finally, his show is amazing. At my recent event, STICKS had the whole venue dancing until the lights came on. The feedback continues to roll in. I look forward to the opportunity where I can book STICKS again – he makes it so easy!” - Caralee Murphy

"Halifax Regional Municipality"

“We hired STICKS to perform at the outdoor Skating Oval in Halifax and he was amazing!! A unique mix of live performance and recorded music, he gave us exactly what we had discussed. Upbeat, fun, vibrant music for people to skate to, dance to and watch fireworks to. By the number of people taking STICKS photos & video I could tell he hit the mark. After 20 years in the event business it’s great to work with a nice person, who gives you what you want and blows the audience away!! Buy STICKS......” - Mike Gillette

"privateer Days"

“WOW!!!!!!What can I say, Sticks (Jay Andrews) brought the house down with his one man show!!!Our venue held 450, we were at capacity and when the show started most of the attendees were on the Dance Floor and stayed there for the whole show (2 hours non stop!!!)We look forward to having Sticks perform for us again. Bio

It’s not often you see a musician dip into as many genres of music and perform at such a broad spectrum of venues as that of Jay Andrews – better known by his stage name — STICKS.
Having competed and performed throughout North America and Europe as a drummer and performer, STICKS has now shifted his focus towards the fields of DJing, Mash-up producing and live percussive remixing. Inspired by such acts as Ravidrums, Stomp, Blue Man Group and Skratch Bastid (to name a few), STICKS radiates with energy and his ability to transform any venue into a spectacle of all the senses.
Beginning in Halifax as a drummer and percussionist at the young age of seven, STICKS built his skills from the ground up. Since the time he got a hold of his first pair of drumsticks, he began practicing everyday for hours in his mom’s basement. Building his skills as a percussionist paid off as he made his way to numerous appearances at both North American and World Pipe Band Championships. After years of competition he moved quickly in to performing as a percussionist, beat boxer and producer in theatres and other venues. Being recognized by crowds as an energetic and dynamic performer, and gaining inspiration from numerous sources, STICKS began to broaden his skills.
Fast forward a bit, and along come two turntables and a mixer. STICKS gradually began to integrate his performing background into his DJ performances and became recognized as a high-energy party rocker. Audiences quickly began to grow, coming back for more of the unique musical experience created by STICKS. A space where he fed off the crowd and the crowd fed off him was ideal for a performer, but it pulled time and energy away from being a drummer. It was this dilemma which originated the idea of mixing drumming with the energy created by a DJ on a dancefloor. After many hours in the lab mixing musical concoctions and watching some of them explode, STICKS was born.
STICKS takes dance, funk, hip hop, Top 40, reggaeton and rock music, mashes them together and remixes them with live drumming. Since STICKS began in the summer of 2010, he’s had the opportunity to open for numerous DJs and groups. He’s also had the chance to work with artists such as Ria Mae, Kayo, Ashley MacIsaac and Chad Hatcher and has developed a consistent appearance schedule in clubs, Universities and venues throughout Atlantic Canada.
As he continues to develop his style and make himself heard, STICKS will continually add to his library of tricks and rhythms that will keep your feet moving.
In the words of Citizen Cope, “Let the drummer kick that.”
