"Out of Her Mind, Stickshift Annie, 2001 CD"

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN - August 2001
West Michigan Blues Society Review
From the very first note you know you are listening to something unlike the standard female artists with their whiskey drinkin’, cigarette smokin’, gravel always audible. Backed by a great band, ...Stickshift Annie will definitely shift your gears.
NORFOLK, VIRGINIA - Nov/Dec 2001,
Natchel’ Blues Network Newsletter, Bob Mahan
This band does it all, from shuffles to ballads to
hard-hitting blues, and they do it all really well.
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON August 2002, Tony Engelhart
Like another Northwest Blues Diva, Duffy Bishop, Annie isn’t afraid to lay it out for all to hear while using her womanly ways to lure the listener in.
WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA - Jan/Feb 2002, Billtown Blues, Bill Wilson, Music Editor
The band covers everything from straight-ahead rockin’ blues to smoldering slow burners...all covered with more than a touch of class. Annie’s voice is one of a kind and the band is tighter than a gnat’s behind... - Misc. Reviews:

Bio

Stickshift Annie with Kimball and the Fugitives features the flying fingers of Kimball Conant on lead guitar and vocals, one of the tightest rhythm sections in the northwest with Larry Hill on bass and Allen Isaacson on drums, the sultry vocals of Annie Eastwood, and Seattle favorite Brian Kent on sax. The band performs every style from Freddie King shuffles, slow grinders, and Texas 2-beat blues, to Latin, jazz, swing, rock & roll, and R&B tunes.

Stickshift Annie has been playing venues around the Northwest for years and has opened for national blues acts such as Tommy Castro, Smokin’ Joe Kubek with Bnois King, Linda Hornbuckle and Lady Bianca. Stickshift Annie has been described on the Sounds of Seattle website and Silver Platters as “...one of the Puget Sound’s top rated blues bands ...a crowd pleaser for many years ... a favorite on blues radio all over the Northwest ...with airplay on KPLU, KBCS and KSER...”

Since teaming up with guitarist Kimball Conant in July of 2002, Stickshift Annie with Kimball and the Fugitives have entertained crowds at the EMP Liquid Lounge, the New Orleans, Jazzbones, the Wild Buffalo, About The Music, and the Highway 99 Blues Club, and festivals across the Northwest. Kimball performs on his vintage Gretsch electric guitar in the distinctive finger style made famous by Chet Atkins, and easily shifts to a deep down Johnny Winter style acoustic slide guitar for burning blues. Annie’s vocals combine elements of blues and jazz with a unique sultry, sensitive tone that she can shape to rock the house. Annie’s self designed and produced 2001 debut CD entitled Out of Her Mind features six of her original songs. She was nominated by the Washington Blues Society for Best Female Vocalist, and the CD was nominated for Best Northwest Recording and has had airplay across Europe, Australia, and the US.
