NewSoul: Music for the soul, from the soul

- STIKK "The church has been ministering to its own for a long time, and that's essential, but now it's time to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to another level: Street level."

Born Stephen Anders in Kansas City, Kansas, Stikk always knew he wanted to make music. His mother sang at churches throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area and because of this, he was exposed to Gospel music at an early age. Because of his parent's love for music, he was not only surrounded by the music of Gospel artists such as Walter Hawkins, Darryl Coley and James Cleveland, but also Soul artists such as Sly Stone, Stevie Wonder and Al Green. And as a teen, forms of music such as R&B, funk, rock, jazz, and rap also became a part of his musical development.

In 1989, Stikk made the move to Houston in order to pursue his career in music. He ran into one roadblock after another as he delved into the secular music scene, hoping for that "big break". Then one day he came to the ultimate barricade in life, which was the decision between God and money. He finally surrendered totally to God and after that everything changed. "After years of trying to do secular music and fulfill my own fleshly desires, I came back home. Like a prodigal." Stikk knew God had a purpose for his musical gift. "That's why in 1999 I started NewSoul Music Group, which consists of NewSoul Productions, NewSoul Records and recently, We Run Entertainment, which is the booking / management /promotional arm of the company headed up by Ray Bingley."

Since then, Stikk has worked with a host of Holy Hip-Hop artists. He did the majority of the production on both Southern Gospeltality Records compilations "Street Life not Death" and "Spiritual Warfare" and also their upcoming compilation entitled "Prohibition"; produced five tracks on Lil Raskull's "The Day After" on Grapetree/Diamond Cut Records; and production on projects for Much Luvv Studios artists Tre 9 ("Marooned"), Col Cutz ("Artistically Speaking"), Cy ("The Complex"), and Enock ("Awethentic"). In 2000, Stikk released "THISISHOWEDOIT", a maxi-single that featured some of Houston's finest Holy Hip-Hop Artists. On September 17, 2002 his new CD entitled "Street Sermons" was released, with guest features by Tragedy, Tre9, and Lil Raskull, to name a few. In support of the new CD, Stikk has been traveling, doing concerts in cities such as Houston, Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta, Ruston, New Orleans, Youngstown, and Oklahoma City, performing with artists such as Mary Mary, Souljahz, Dr. Bobby Jones, Soul Fruit, Canton Jones and Pettidee.

Indeed his patience is paying off. As the Bible reads, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Stikk is dedicated to these principles, and has shown that. Now is his time to show the world.
