"SFM headed for Australia's rock elite"

Still Frame Of Mind have created a fresh style for themselves by incorporating elements of many different influences. The result is a fresh exciting sound, that given enough exposure, should catch the attention of anyone who likes good quality rock and propel them into Australias rock elite. - OnlyAusMusic.com

"OnlyAusMusic.com reviews SFM EP"

Still Frame Mind are a Perth band who definitely belong on the “upcoming” list.
Band members
Ewan Buckley: vocals, acoustic guitar, synthesiser
Nicko Mezzino: lead guitar
Grant Smith: bass, backing vocals
Johnny Triplett: drums
They have just recently released their debut self titled EP, which you can listen to for free here before you buy it here.
The Ep was produced by Jason Millar at Millapede Studio, and mastered by Simon Struthers at Forensic Audio in Leederville WA. It’s a highly polished effort with all band members given the opportunity to shine as individuals at some point, without losing any cohesion.
The EP opens with Too Hot to Sleep, which starts off mid tempo before perking up into a fast paced political protest song.
Not Today is more of a rock song with it’s huge opening riff and thundering drums. This song has a great guitar solo, which is the driving force of the song. This is Nickos time to shine, and shine he does.
Yesterday is a perky, almost quirky song with a great chorus and a solid rhythmic beat.
River is a more melancholic moody piece. This one definitely brings the drums and bass right up front, while at the same time giving Ewan’s voice room to breath and guide the song to it’s crashing crescendo.
The Betrayed is the best highlight of Ewan’s vocals thus far. It shows him to have both soul and strength in his voice. The Betrayed is by far the heaviest song lyrically on the EP, and shows why Still Frame Mind are a cut above the rest.
All in all this is an excellent debut which should open eyes and ears Australia wide. Lyrically it is streets ahead of of many of their musical peers. They show they are not afraid to tackle sensitive issues, which takes confidence and skill to successfully pull off. Still Frame Mind have both, in spades. - www.onlyausmusic.com

"GIGNITION review 12/11/09"

Sending out the evening with a bang were the stylish rockers (STILL FRAME MIND). Launching into their set with heavily guitar-driven numbers offset by thunderous drums the band oozed a confidence, which immediately drew the audience's attention.
Switching things up about halfway through with an acoustic, the lead singer allowed his truly amazing voice a little more presence. His slightly awkward banter in between songs actually really worked in the band's favour, gaining laughs and warming the audience up to them.
Given the chance to show off, the drummer threatened to steal the show, receiving a huge round-of-applause.
Phenomenal stage presence, particularly for an up-and-coming band, was the cherry on top of a pleasurable performance. - Drum Media

Bio

Still Frame Mind are an up-and-coming Perth rock band whose unique sound fills a distinct gap in the current music horizon for melodic alternative rock.

"...a fresh exciting sound, that given enough exposure, should catch the attention of anyone who likes good quality rock and propel them into Australias rock elite." - OnlyAusMusic.com

The band's guitar-driven sound is characterised by rare range and dynamics of frontman The Mong's melodic vocal hooks, lead guitarist Nicko's intricate riffing and solo work, and pounding metronomic drumming from Tripo, underpinned by the driving groove of The Miff's basslines. With plenty of effects, synthesiser and occasional rhythm acoustic guitar, the foursome dish out an awesome amount of sound, with lyrics spanning flippant every day life observations to the darkest sides of humanity.

Music buffs have compared the band's sound with the likes of The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Faith No More, Incubus, Tool and The Butterfly Effect.

With their debut EP product, coherent branding and a rocking live set of quality songs, Still Frame Mind have been busy building their profile, touring throughout Western Australia's South West and playing shows in some of Perth's iconic rock music venues. The band also organised the SwanFest music festival and are now busy working on two follow-up singles and the launch of their live DVD.

The ultimate goal of the band is to fill a current void in the Australian/international music marketplace and to bring their unique meld of melodic alternative rock to a mass audience.
