Still Standing
Official press release
August 30 2009

Growing up, the twin sons of seminal guitarist Tony Santoro, Justin and Johnny, naturally took up the family business. At a young age they began writing and playing music together, their talents beginning to unfold. In 1998 they met Alex Zarzycki, a drummer with a skill set and passion for music that matched their own. They formed Still Standing and began spreading its wings at the center of a growing punk rock scene in Philadelphia. By playing any gig they possibly could, they developed a prowess for live shows that has become their calling card translating into being able to deliver performances beyond their years.

After establishing a strong fan base and creating a buzz, Still Standing made the move to Los Angeles to record with well-respected Producer Tommy Henriksen. The band’s six song EP, drew the ear of Song Writer/Producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Buck Cherry, Papa Roach) they hit it off immediately and agreed to have him Produce and record their full-length record. During the recording process the guys met Lonny Johnson and added him as the band's second guitarist. In May of 2009 the band signed a record deal with Capitol Media Group. Still Standing presently has a their hit single “I Can’t With You” in the top 40 of current releases on ITunes and nation wide radio with their full length album slated to release in the near future.
- Justin Purser

Still Standing is bursting with commercial readiness, exuding the right look and attitude, but most important they've delivered a record filled with fantastic radio-friendly songs. They touch upon most of the themes boys their age can relate to, from the troubled love of "I Can't With You", to the pensive longing for solitude ("Leave Me Alone"), to the inspirational anthems like "Never Be Afraid" and "Suck It Up". The sonic quality is amazing and the hooks in the choruses will have you humming along with a fist in the air in no time - definitely one of those CDs best played loud.

There really isn't a bad song in the batch, but my favorites include the driving opener "Never Be Afraid", the chilling "Do You Believe" ("Do you believe that tragedy can make you see what's alive is dying slowly?"), and the excellent power ballad, "I Can't With You". The entire record is brilliantly consistent - all of the songs have the same meaty guitars and full sound - but like the twins themselves, the songs have enough nuance to keep them from sounding identical.

With their perfect blend of hard rock and punk, mixed with pop sensibilities, Still Standing is ready to take the world by storm. I'd recommend Still Standing for fans of Simple Plan, New Found Glory, or SR-71.

Bio

Justin and Johnny Coppolino, identical twins who were born in Trenton, New Jersey. At an early age Justin (Bass/Vocals) and Johnny (AKA” Johnny Five) (Guitar/Vocals) learned to play music together, by growing up in house full of guitars in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Not ones to be followers writting and playing all originals. They met Alex Zarzycki, a drummer, another New Jersey native with a skill set and passion for music that matched their own. They formed Still Standing. Performing throughout the regions alternative/punk scene, they developed a sound that stands out amongst the crowd.

After establishing a strong regional fan base and creating a buzz, the band decided it was time to make the move to Los Angeles to record with well-respected producer Tommy Henriksen. Tommy and the band produced a six song EP followed by a tour with Alice Cooper. The EP caught the ear of Songwriter/Producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Motley Crue, Buckcherry, Papa Roach). They hit it off immediately and agreed to have Marti produce and record their full-length record.

Through the relationship and recordings, Still Standing with Frederiksen’s insight and guidance, evolved their music into a powerful lyrical harmonic and octave direction. The production of the new recordings is some of the finest music Frederiksen/Still Standing has produced and written todate.

The band’s live performances are as impressive and full-bodied as the recording sessions, thus challenging the bands creativity as well as keeping them grounded. They are gaining fans daily as they work the western region of California, Las Vegas and Idaho in venues such as the House of Blues, The Whiskey, The Viper Room, The Slide Bar, The 2010 NAMM Show and the internets social/viral networks daily, just to name a few.

In 2009 the band signed a record deal UMG/United Music & Media Group. Still Standing presently has their single “I Can’t With You” in the top 40 of current releases. Available on iTunes and nationwide radio.

February 3, 2010 UMG ships the band’s four (4) song Promotional EP “Blister” to radio. Highlighted by Still Standing’s cover version of “Blister In The Sun”, the vintage Violent Femmes hit.

The New Still Standing cover of “Blister In The Sun” will be available on iTunes February 1, 2010. Included on “Blister” are three (3) other original songs from the band and Frederiksen. This EP is supported by an all out assault on the nations college and alternative radio station format, viral, social networking and media campaign. You are sure to hear them in the near future.
