"Stingrays Wes Wingate is like the indie rock-soul blood brother of Lou Barlow and Greg Dulli." - Jeff Sweatman--106.1 The Corner--Charlottesville, VA

"Stingrays sound ranges from psychedelic to vocals as mellow as Death Cab for Cutie, which inspire the band's experimental sound." - Alyson Fleming--Vox magazine

"I sometimes find myself questioning what my minute existence might be like without their music. It draws you in, and yet, pushes you away at the same time. It keeps you on your toes. It's truely is a fresh of breath-air."

Debut CD, Say Hello, released on May 23, 2007...Buy it now!!!Do it!! Here!!!!..

The Stingrays hail from the small college town of Columbia, Missouri. A town that is known for taking interest and appreciating the fine arts it's city has to offer. All four band members: Phylshawn Johnson, Wes Wingate Greg Hausman along with Mark Siebenaler, all collectively agree that they "all founded the band." Their small, but innovative catalog seems to be only a taste of good things to come from them.

Although it's almost become cliche to compare them to bands like Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, The Beatles, Muse, My Morning Jacket, Dinosaur Jr. and others, they claim "it's great," but they "can be whatever people want to hear." Whether that's having a thick poppy sound, or a dark, almost mysterious-touch of jazz-folk incorporated. With Wes's vocals and talented keyboarding, while Greg almost sleepwalking his guitar over them is an absolutely breath-taking distinct sound of the band. Phyl's drum beats and vocals are indeed phenomenal. They alone, especially on the popular track "Discontent Jack," will draw people into their own "state of a spectacle" as they like to put it.

Stingrays debut release "Say Hello" has been out as of May 23, 2007 and is already creating quite a buzz all around you!! The Stingrays are constantly on tour, and are indeed prepared to fight for their listeners. Just as one of the titled tracks on their debut album suggests,"This Means War." After giving the song a listen and hearing Wes's declare those vary three words, you will have no choice but to simply believe him...
