“Stink Mitt…in my opinion should be the next group from Canada that the world goes apeshit over…their debut record Scratch n Sniff has wowed everyone I’ve played it for...[they] eclipsed the stigma of a track act as opposed to live musical backing by pouring it on full strength with two focused vocal performances so visceral and dynamic the stage crackled with electricity, sending the crowd into instant dance motion and cheers of approval with the incredible vocal acrobatics of both of these seasoned MCs…never missing the beat or rhythm of their often complex call and response double MC vocal attack…There was enough star power on that stage for large-scale satisfaction, this group should be selling millions if you ask me and I intend to spread the word of Stink Mitt as if it were the gospel. Musically their sound is replete with the very rich lush sounds of ‘80s dance music ala production superstars Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis as well as the S.O.S Band and some old school rap and the studio trickery of De La Soul and even shades of Malcolm McClaren, king of style appropriation—all mixed up and skillfully laid out sounding fresh as fuck.... These girls can rapid-fire freestyle rap with the best of them, delivering incredible wordplay of seriously brilliant construction and flow."

Fronting as drug-crazed trailer trash single moms from the Laval of Vancouver, Surrey, MC Jenni Craige and MC Betti Forde take you through 14 of their original hip-hop/R'n'B/electro gems, proving throughout that there's more to reality than meets the eye. Expressing the repressed wishes and dreams of womankind in witty verse and melodic song, Betti's got soul, Jenni's got panache and the album is as irresistible as crack. TRASHY TRAILER-CLASH RAPPERS BEAT OFF TO SOME FUNKY RHYMES

Forde and Craige, together with mysterious masked keyboard player Dr. Do-This, make up BC-based trash-talking trailer-clash rap outfit Stink Mitt, who have made a name for themselves layering hilariously filthy rhymes over lo-fi steamy funky dance beats.

They were shoo-ins for the position of spokespeople for this year's National Masturbation Month, whose duties include headlining two shows presented by Come as You Are, one in Montreal and another tonight at the Kathedral.

Even if Stink Mitt were talentless hacks, I'd still have a soft spot in my heart for their fabulous concept of two bodacious, trashy cougars from Surrey who rhyme raunchy over lo-fi beats. Luckily, they've got the chops to back it up, which makes their Teenage USA debut so great. Think Princess Superstar times two, trading shambling raps about fucking underage boys, gangbanging fellas and the wonders of spandexed male genitalia, with old-school Casio keyboard riffs and tinny drum machines. And the campy inter-song skits give De La Soul's Three Feet High And Rising a run for its money.

Stink Mitt descend on the 360 to launch Scratch 'N' Sniff tonight (Thursday, September 25).

it's hard to separate the whip-smart women in StinkMitt from the personalities they play onstage.Call it the Eminem phenomenon. On the one hand, you've got the larger-than-life, bemulleted, trash-talkin', spandex-clad bangers from Surrey, BC, who write lightning-speed visceral rhymes and then lay them over slinky funk beats.

On the other hand, there are the ladies behind the music -- Lady Precise (aka Jenni Craige), a session vocalist for Deep Dish Records and one of the fiercest freestylin' battle MCs in Vancouver, and Maren Hancock (aka Betti Forde), a funk DJ-slash-promoter with an M.A. in women's studies.

...Hancock thinks that loud-mouthed bitches like StinkMitt -- and Princess Superstar and Peaches -- deliver a crucial political statement.

"Satire's great. It's always the best way to slip someone some poison as though it's a lump of sugar. We're not used to granting bigger women sexuality or sexual desirability or seeing them as sexual beings."
