Stoic Static – The Post Modern Decent (independent)
A ‘heads up’ to Leicester’s finest, Skam#. I think I’ve found a second band for your Flick Rock movement. Now it really is a movement, boys.
Stoic Static have the classic rock licks down to a tee, and yet bring melody and grunge sensibility to the mix. There’s plenty of headbanging opportunities across the set and I’ve been playing along on air guitar. I’m getting really good at the tricky axe solo on the excellent “Bye and Bye”. Yeah, guitar solos are back.
There’s a Bob Mould / Foo Fighters sound to the melodies and Mitch Hill’s lead vocal. I’m quite fond of “I Hope Not”, which currently languishes in equal last place in the band’s online poll for ‘best song on the album’. UK rockers, get on there and vote for it.
Buy the disc at CD Baby and if you’re ever in Louisville. Now a transatlantic meeting of Skam# and Stoic Static would get me fired up for a unforgettable night of Flick Rock fireworks. Mitch Hill meets Steve Hill would be a fine collaboration.

Stoic Static is on the upside of downtown looking for a spotlight underground. We are an all original three piece rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, With a growing, dedicated fan base in our hometown. We boast a unique rock sound in todays music industry. Drawing influence from such notable bands as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Foo Fighters we are still able to maintain our own original sound. Behind the leadership of front man and song writer Mitch Hill, our music is sure to catch the attention of any rock fan with our 90s rock vibe. Stoic Static is comprised of Jonathan Haven pounding out foreshadowing licks on the bass as well as some backing vocals, Blair Bissett, providing the bands crucial heart beat on the drums, and Mitch Hill whose idiosyncratic guitar style and powerful lead vocals permeate the strong rythym section. The 2011 release of our debut album recorded and produced by John Schroeder, Apogee Recording Studios Inc., The Post Modern Descent is considered to be a pure rock and roll album. Following our release we conitnue to have a passion, love, and dedication for creating and performing music. We have enough material written to record a second full length album and hope to begin doing so in 2012. With all this and plenty more on the way we are capable of performing a two hour set at any live show, providing quality live rock entertainment and keeping fans asking for more.
