"Stone Bleeder - Exposé"

Stone Bleeder - Exposé
Written by Melanie Scrafton

5 piece rock band from Perth. Stone Bleeder is, Jason Miles - vocals, Rob Concannon - guitar, Dan Lewis - guitar, Shawn Lewis - bass, Gerard LaGrenade – drums.

Unsigned and underground literally, tonights live performance by Stone Bleeder at the Basement Bar, Swan Hotel in North Fremantle. The cozy venue and intimate crowd reminded me of why I love my job. The band only formed in July 2011, however when you hear the level of confidence that they play together, you could be mistaken into thinking they became established way before that. They are a unique and talented group of unpretentious individuals who perform without ego as a real stripped back and energized collaborative. The music is written by the band as a collective, Jason Miles on vocals writes the lyrics, the results are an additive blend of diverse tastes and influences.

AMN – What inspires your music & lyrics?

Jason - Most of the songs I write are story’s, not always personal, I am often inspired by friends relationships, however I also enjoy writing about current social issues that capture my attention.

Gerard – we like to keep it real, with 35 yrs in the music industry, I am always drawing from past experience, I have played Reggae, Blues and Rock, to name just a few, sometimes it’s necessary to simply recreate some classic sounds and then the band place a modern spin, to complete our solid sound.

AMN - What are your influences?

Jason – The band has a vast and diverse musical background, we draw from that, from 50’s vintage rock n roll to current more progressive rock. It is a real amalgamation of classic and modern styles. We enjoy performing our tunes with Rock, Blues or Punk edge to each track, we sound unique yet familiar at the same time.

AMN - Describe your sound

Jason – Loud and uncomplicated. From the driving riffs, ear splitting leads and pumping bass and drums Stone Bleeder delivers high octane rock n roll that can get any crowd going. Stone Bleeders EP Set Me Free delivers a taste of what we are about and what crowds can expect at their live shows with a hard dirty raw rock n roll sound.

AMN - Where do u want to be in 12 months time?

Jason – The band will be recording later in the year, we have the new material ready, however at the moment our focus is to perform more live shows here in Perth and firmly establish ourselves locally. The band is keen to perform Summer Festivals next year as well that is something we will be working towards.

AMN - Perth Music Scene – Any comments?

Gerard – It is was it is, we except that and believe we can make an impact on the scene, because we have a sound that will appeal to many who enjoy live music. We are energized and diverse. People will not have heard anything like us on a local level and I know we will catch on quickly. The band are a team, we compliment each other and respect each other’s abilities. In my experience that doesn’t always happen as effortlessly as it does with Stone Bleeder, we all naturally gel.
