"The Stoneflys Continue to Support Local Environmental Causes"

"Our expedition ended in a park by the Michigan City marina, where another feast awaited and a kick-ass band called the Stoneflys was laying it down. Their gig was pro bono, and the proceeds (?) from sale of their $5 CDs went to local environmental causes. Bravo, Stoneflys!"

Bio

Born and raised on the East Side of Chicago, band front man and songwriter Frank Veraldi infuses his songs with stories of the people and the landscapes of the Midwest. The Stoneflys build upon the traditions of Americana music by masterfully combining elements of rock, bluegrass, folk, and funk. Cathy Starr's violin ranges from haunting to joyful as she intertwines with Veraldi's infectious melodies and personal lyrics.

"Unearthed" is the first major release by The Stoneflys and ambitiously represents the wide-range of styles that influence the band. From the driving rock guitars of "The Broken Handle" to the whimsical fiddle of "The Smallest Jack" to the haunting sounds of "Great Lakes" and the dark melodic interplay of "A Sponge For A Barrel," the album defies category.

Produced and engineered by Mike Hari (Derek Nelson & The Musicians,) the album was recorded at Fullerton Recording Studios in Chicago, IL, mixed at the acclaimed Smart Studios in Madison, WI, and Mastered by Grammy-Award winning engineer, Dominick Maita, at Airshow in Boulder, CO.

"Unearthed" features Jack Burr on bass, Matt Robinson (Old Shoe) on electric guitar, Rocco Labriola (Van Ghost) on pedal steel guitar, Scott Fischer on keyboard and organ, Michael James Brooks (Common Shiner) on vocals, and Stephen Pescitelli (Redhorse) on vocals.
