The Toronto-based band Stonefox-with Stratford singer/ keyboardist Anika Johnson in the front line — pulled off a tremendously entertaining show. The six-member band exhibited great versatility, even adding a little Leonard Cohen (Closing Time) to their...stylings.

Rating: NNN
From the waltzy piano sway of the opening track The Party, with it's sweet and subtle vocal arrangements that bring to mind the heyday of Canadian folksinger/songwriters like Joni Mitchell, it's apparent that this Toronto-based (quartet) is an exceptionally talented bunch. On this, their debut EP, the band seems like a collective of revivalists, intentionally staying as far away as possible from anything remotely current in popular music, which sounds just fine. Instead, all three lead voices lend their charm to a collection of short, sweet and dreamy songs like Suzy's Song and White Flag....The Band Shows serious potential that can't be fully realized in just seven tunes.

Bio
From the driving, sexy version of Leonard Cohen's "Closing Time", through their own exciting originals, to the grand finale when "Father Mike" steps out to lead a high energy and wacky version of "Oh Mary", STONEFOX delivers a show that will make you smile your face off.
Anika Johnson, Barb Johnston, Suzy Wilde and Mike O'Hara, with rhythm section guys Andrew Kekewich and Tye Rowles, write fine, fine songs and deliver them with panache and sensitivity, drawing inspiration from such songwriters as Brian Wilson, Joni Mitchell, and Robbie Robertson. It was possibly those influences (or the latest addition of an accordion to the act!) that led NOW magazine reviewer Evan Davies to dub them "a collective of revivalists"! Reviewing their debut cd, "The Things I Wouldn't Know About", he said "it's apparent that this Toronto-based (group) is an exceptionally talented bunch" and spoke of their "serious potential".
