Bio

They’re back! The band that entered the battle arena early last year with an album many refer to as “the best Norwegian metal debut of all times”. “Arrows” became a success so far selling more than 7000 copies in Scandinavia, and several thousand more in the rest of the world. Critics were overwhelming and numerous venues were filled all over Scandinavia. Stonegard also made an impact on the festival bookers, resulting on them being the only band playing the three biggest festivals in Norway last year, namely the Quart Festival, Norwegian Wood and the Oya Festival. The golden year of 2005 was then crowned with playing support-slots for major acts such as Black Sabbath, Slipknot and Korn, and later on being nominated for both the Alarm-award and Spellemannspris (Norwegian Grammy)! In the summer of 2006 “Arrows” was released in Europe and America, and the critics have been overwhelming! For example both Metal Hammer and Rock Sound give an 8/10, saying; “Stonegard sounds like seasoned warhorses on their fourth or fifth album.”

Albu mnumber two was released in Scandinavia sept/oct 2006. "From Dusk Till Doom” goes darker, faster and harder yet still keeps the melodic trademark vocals and the constant focus on a good melody. Stonegard shows ice cold precision with their song writing. Combining the progressiveness of TOOL with the brutal up-tempo thrash of bands like The Haunted and Slayer, all wrapped in a fat, warm sound by Danne Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames). Stonegard has taken use of their strong vocal resources, and all four band members contribute with their singing (and screaming) on this album. The variation among songs is just as apparent as on “Arrows”, and the song compositions is another step up the quality ladder.
"From Dusk Till Doom” without doubt takes Stonegard to the next level.
The critics on this one has been just as good as on their 2005 debut, and sales have also been very good.

The band has spent the time since the release touring around Scandinavia, and did their first European tour this winter, supporting swedish Evergrey.
They also did a succesful show at Eurosonic in January, recently toured Scandinavia together with Hatesphere, and now it`s time for a hectic festival season.

Next mission is to get "From Dusk Till Doom" out in Europe, and the band is ready for more abroad touring, showing the Europeans once more what Norwegian hard rock is all about!
