"Wanna write a hit song? Listen to this track ... and learn."

Congratulations Stone Melodies For 24 hours on Sunday, the 23rd of May, 2004 (PST) "This I Know" will be featured on GarageBand.com's Pop/Rock front page.
This comes as a result of some very enthusiastic reviews from GarageBand.com members, "This I Know" will be Track of the Day at GarageBand.com.

Right off the bat -- I am completely engaged. Really nice chord changes. Vox are totally sweet -- great voice man. Excellent hook. Backing vox are placed really well behind the lead. I love the use of the whammy -- Drums and bass are totally in the pocket.
Damn, there's just nothing at all I can say to improve the songwriting. There are songs and songwriters that have that unique ability to make it all sound so easy -- when we all know better. This is radio ready. I'll see this band on the charts.

Extra Credit: Male Vocals, Guitars, Drums, Bass, Lyrics, Melody, Beat, Mood, Originality, Most Rocking Track.

"Emergenza Online Magazine"

"None of the bands was more pro throughout the Tour than Ottawa winner STONE MELODIES. They made new fans and some great connections in all three cities. Stone Melodies plays a dozen shows per month, and is now ready to slow things down a little to write new material and head back to the studio to record new material." - B.E.S.T. 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE STAGE (March 1st 2003 Issue)
“A big hello to y’all from the incredible, Wonderful World of Oz! Your wise, old wizard has a few different things to go over today…. First off, let’s start with: The STONE MELODIES – Ottawa, Canada – Their disk, “Alien Summer”, is truly a work of art, well-made, and very polished. Obviously rooted in classic rock, with echoes of CLEARWATER REVIVAL and the EAGLES, the STONE MELODIES are really a first-class act. Their songs are catchy, even if they are a little simple, but these guys certainly are out to shake up the music scene. I would even go so far as to say that they’re on a path that’s been walked many times before, rekindling the flame for a certain type of rock that’s never been, and shouldn’t be, forgotten. So, let’s give a warm welcome to the soft melodies and arrangements by this Canadian quartet, enjoying the classic refrains, which are bursting with lyrics ready to be programmed on an FM station near you. We can dream that we are singing along as we drive down one of the immense, never-ending highways over on that side of the ocean.”

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks for taking the time to review our submission. The information provided in this package is the result of many years of dedication and devotion to our art.

The Stone Melodies Story

From the opening crack of the snare drum to the final ringing guitar chord, the Stone Melodies sound is crafted to engage the listener in a musical experience of fun, energy and honest emotion. Equally at home on stage and in the recording studio, they are a band whose sound is at once reassuringly familiar and yet undeniably their own. Valuing substance over style, there is no such thing as a "typical" Stone Melodies show - the only constants are a sense of fun and adventure, and the consummate musical skills to make it all happen.

Formed in the fall of 2001, Stone Melodies was born when the musical core of the Ottawa band Sandmouth - guitarist Luke Paluch, bassist Jason Leblanc, and drummer Jamie Urie - teamed with singer/guitarist Ben Cooper. The new quartet not only boasted a wealth of performing experience, but benefited from the melding of four distinct musical personalities.

In their recordings, Stone Melodies have worked to balance the spontaneous energy of their live performances with the polished sound which can only be achieved within the confines of a recording studio. Their debut album, Alien Summer, was released in November of 2002, and their first single - "The Night George Harrison Died" - received significant airplay on Ottawa's XFM (101.1). Most recently, the band recorded new material with producer Albert Chambers (Moist, David Usher) of Bin Base Studios in Montreal. The first results of this collaboration,"This I Know" and "Typical", are representative of the high-energy direction in which Stone Melodies is headed. Currently, the band is preparing an EP slated for release in September of 2004.

Fun, energy, and talent - this is a band with "big ears", who respect the rock and roll tradition they are a part of, but are not slaves to it. Their commitment has been rewarded with both critical accolades, and a loyal and enthusiastic fan base, and the future is bright indeed for Stone Melodies.

The Emergenza Festival- a big hit in Ottawa!
“What’s great in Ottawa is that, despite the relatively small number of bands taking part in the Festival, all musical styles are duly represented: from alternative to pop, and not forgetting electronica, metal, progressive rock & reggae. Thursday saw the very good STONE MELODIES with their attention to the melody and chorus…”
