"Stone the Mayor Sheriffs releasing new CD at Blind Bob's"

Good rock 'n' roll should have a sense of fun and irreverence. That fact is lost on many earnest modern rockers, but not Stone the Mayor Sheriffs.

The members of this cheeky Dayton rock crew take their music seriously, but Andrew Strozier (vocals), Daniel Madero (vocals, keyboards), Tyler Cross (bass, vocals), Kenny Fegel (guitar), Mike Patak (guitar) and Adrian Grant (drums) certainly inject some frivolity into everything they do.

"We have so much fun together," Madero said. "Six members is a lot, but if it's going to be with anybody it might as well be these guys. Too many chefs can spoil the soup, but this is a great dynamic. There's just this really cool energy."

While known primarily as a live act, Stone the Mayor Sheriff were able to capture that energy on its electrifying new five-song EP, recorded by Brian Witten of Auburndale.

"The songs vary from many different styles, but there's always that energy behind it," Strozier said.

"The goal of the CD was to make sure it had songs everybody could get into, not just one specific style repeating itself over and over again," Madero said. "We wanted to spread the gamut. It's crazy in its own right. It's the nutty uncle of the family. You love him. He's full of great stories, and sure he might take you around the block with a story or two, but you can follow it."

STMS, as the group is often called, is releasing the new CD at Blind Bob's on Friday, June 26. New Vega and the Javelin Dance will also perform.

"The game plan is to make it more of a party than just a regular show," Strozier said. "There's a rock show every night of the week so we wanted to make it a celebration — out of control — because that's what we're all about. We're crazy guys."

"We're super lucky Blind Bob's is down with not having just a show, but a whole house party vibe," Madero said. "They were gracious enough to make the show free. They're kind of letting us have carte blanche in that we can throw up our cutouts of ourselves and have a little photo booth. We're pulling out all the stops to make it an all-out, free-for-all party."

"We want people to come out, celebrate with us and have a good time," Fegel said. "What better way to say, 'Hey, the door's open, come on in. Don't even pay a cover.' Hopefully that'll bring some new faces into the mix." - Don Thrasher - Dayton Daily News

"The End of Halloween...."

...last night at the Nite Owl served as remarkable showcase for some great bands from Dayton and beyond. Opening the night was the "official" debut for Stone the Mayor Sheriffs, featuring ex-members of the much-loved Sputnik Halo, fully decked out in A-Team costumes. Engaging in a heavy, but dynamic aesthetic, STMS displayed a sense of adventure with their compositions that truly masked their infancy. We expect good things to come out of this camp very soon.... - The Buddha Den

Bio

Stone The Mayor Sheriffs came together in the Fall of 2007. The diversity of each individual's musical taste, and past projects, has given us a unique outlook on song structure and presentation. We strive to combine technical, rhythmically challenging, Rock music with an attainable Pop Rock front. Every member of this band pulls their influences from a different genre of music, ultimately forcing us to use each other as a main songwriting influence rather than what we listen to away from the band. As a band we like to make our shows as theatrical as possible. High energy has always been a main descriptor in our stage acts, as well as "dance-able" and "interactive". In the year, and some months, that we've been together we have already built a large following in our hometown, and have recently decided to venture out into the rest of the world.
