"On "CRUISIN' FOR A BLUESIN", STONEY AND THE HOUSE ROCKERS debut CD, the band not only steps it up a few notches, but they shine while doing it. The fourteen very well done originals highlight the band and the talent of STONEY on lead vocals and harmonica... The title track describes something that I'm constantly doin' and that's "CRUISIN' FOR A BLUESIN". This one features the band in a soft but very tight groove backing up STONEY'S smooth vocals and sharp harpin'... ..."TWO TIMIN' WOMAN" is a smoker that will even get the wallflowers movin' & groovin', of course STONEY gets his share of hot harp blowin' in there as well. The magic these guys are working extends right into the next track, a superb instrumental titled "TRIBUTE TO TOOTS"... unquestionably, musically two of the discs best... Pardon the pun, but "ICEMAN" is such a cool track...STONEY sings his heart out on the vocals. Add to that some of STONEY'S best harp work and this one's the real deal... Good job guys. "

"Stoney and the House Rockers' latest release "Cruisin' for a Bluesin'," is a surprisingly good release from this Florida-based group led by Exeter native Stoney, aka Barry Burnham. It's really hard to capture a classic blues sound in this day of "contemporary blues," where shredding guitar solos and horn heavy backing sections rule the genre. Stoney and his mates do a good job of celebrating the essence of the blues, which is, get people up, and movin' — with the band seamlessly making themselves a part of the audience. Stoney himself has great vocal capabilities backed with stellar harmonica playing. He takes pride in letting his influences ooze from the instrument and he does so very tastefully all the while adding his own flavor to the mix. One of the better tunes on the CD that showcase Stoney's versatility as a harp player is his ode to the great harmonica player Toots Thieleman, "Tribute to Toots."... you'll have more than an ample opportunity to check out this fine blues ban"

Stoney and The House Rockers are headed back to The International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis again in January of 2013...
Their latest CD, "SHOWTIME!!!" has been entered by The Blues Alliance of The Treasure Coast into the competition for "Best Self Produced Blues CD - 2012" @ The Blues Foundation.

Florida breeds blues bands like cats breed kittens. Showtime!!! is the third album from Stoney & The House Rockers. Leader Richard Stone honed his harp skills in the greater Boston area before migrating south some ten years ago. He is also the winner of the 2012 Florida Harmonica Championships. Stoney combines a Chicago style with the jazzier style of Toots Thielemans. The band competed in the 25th annual International Blues Competition in 2009 and is returning again in 2013, this time representing The Blues Alliance of The Treasure Coast.
Stoney on harp and vocals just gets better with age. Rounding out this blues and funk ensemble is guitarist Rick Fincke and bassist JT Burley, who can both be seen in another top-notch Florida band, The Usual Suspects. George Wilson is the House Rockers drummer and he lays down a strong foundation. There is a definite chemistry while they are onstage.
For this project, Stoney has written nine new songs. Highlights include the infectious Down On The Bayou, with Ronnie Wahl on piano, and two jazzy tunes, Mine All Mine and the instrumental title track. Love Song features the sax of Steve Mazzi. One Step At A Time combines Stoneys harp with a ska beat.
Covers include two from Otis Rush, Keep Lovin Me Baby and Cut You Loose, Bo Diddleys I Can Tell, and the Mike Morgan and Lee McBee authored Aint Like You Used To Be. Stoney also reprises Magic Dicks Whammer Jammer. And its appropriately credited to Juke Joint Jimmy, the fictional bluesman invented by the members of the J. Geils Band. Throughout the album the band members become background singers as they utilize a call and response which energizes both the band and the listener.

Its all about the chemistry when a group of musicians comes together to work and to play... In central Florida, Stoney and The House Rockers, a group of dedicated, All-Star blues musicians have come together to play the blues, some feel good funk, and that good ol Rock n Roll as well. All four players are gifted songwriters, as their three critically acclaimed CDs will attest.
Out in the front, the band features Stoney, who sings lead vocals and plays all harmonicas. In October, 2012, Stoney was the winner of The 2012 FLORIDA HARMONICA CHAMPIONSHIP/SHOWMANSHIP Award.
In 2011 Stoney was again nominated for the prestigious Brevard Live Florida Music Award for his harmonica prowess.
Guitarist Rick Fincke is the straw that stirs the drink. Rick's Legendary band "The Usual Suspects" has been blowin' through Florida for over two decades. These two great showmen are driven by the powerful rhythm section, often called Back Burners, with drummer George Wilson and JT Burley on bass guitar. JT & George have been playing with Rick and "The Usual Suspects" since forever.
In 2009, Stoney and The House Rockers were chosen to perform at the 25th International Blues Challenge in Memphis, sponsored by The Blues Foundation. That year Stoney was also asked to host and run The Late Night IBC Jam Sessions @ The Hard Rock/Memphis. Stoney and Chuck Van Riper were selected to perform at The IBC again in 2010. Stoney and The House Rockers will be competing in the IBC again in 2013.
Stoney and The House Rockers have been featured at major blues festivals and concerts throughout Florida and the southeast. Stoney's first CD, Cruisin For A Bluesin was released in December of 2007, and was sold out in 7 months. Now, after numerous reorders from Discmakers it is sold out once again. Cruisin For A Bluesin was the recipient of the prestigious Central Florida CD of The Year Award in 2009 @ The Brevard Live Florida Music Awards.
Stoney's next CD, is titled Back In The Game. It was released in February, 2011 and, like Cruisin For A Bluesin, features all original tracks. It is selling quickly at shows and on CDBaby.com. Stoneys songwriting continues to receive strong accolades from reviews in the blues circles.
