Stop Drop N Skank is a 6 piece band from Toronto, Ontario. Their sound is an eclectic mix of reggae, ska, and punk rock, with an emphasis on vocals and horns. Their high-energy performance, along with catchy, sing-along choruses and a distinctive sound has captured the interest of fans from a variety of musical backgrounds. Formed in late 2005, they have racked up 100 + shows in various towns around Canada, with bands such as The Flatliners, Mustard Plug, Social Code, and The Johnstones. Over the past few months, their fan-base has grown exponentially, thanks largely to tireless gigging and significant radio play. Stop Drop N Skank have received airplay from 102.1 The Edge, CBC radio, CHYZ, and various community and campus stations, such as CIUT.FM, CHOQ.FM, Spiritlive, and CJAM 91.5.
2008 looks especially promising for Stop Drop N Skank. The band has just released their debut EP, having worked with experienced engineers Richard G. Benoit (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sum 41, David Usher) and Mitch “King Kong” Girio (Flashlight Brown, The Planet Smashers, Kingpins). The release of the EP in March 2008 caused a huge stir in the local scene, selling out the Kathedral in Toronto. This was followed by a 14 city tour that spanned across Ontario and Quebec. Within the first month of the release, they sold over 600 copies of their EP at their shows alone. Stop Drop N Skank will continue to play shows around the country this summer, and will make their first trip to the U.S. in May, playing several dates in New York State. The band is extremely dedicated and optimistic about their future, and look forward to continuing to grow and expand.
