The school’s second graduating class embraced the challenge laid out by last year’s inaugural group by matching its remarkable 100 percent graduation rate with a 100 percent college-acceptance rate.
“[Last year’s class] may have been the first, but you all represent the continuation of a tradition,” said Karen Symms Gallagher, USC Rossier School of Education dean and chair of the Ednovate board of directors.
The USC Rossier School launched USC Hybrid High in 2012, creating a model focused on meeting the personalized needs of each child through technology and teacher involvement, and established Ednovate as a charter management organization to handle daily operations. - USC NEWS
But math and physics teacher Kristophe Malone, known throughout USC Hybrid High for his uproarious classes filled with infectious energy, wanted to give his students a day they’ll look back on years later.
Mr. Malone told the students in his advisory to spend 10 minutes writing farewells to their class. What transpired was an outpouring of emotion between a charismatic, unconventional teacher and the young men he has profoundly influenced, expressing thoughts they weren’t able to before being assigned to his class (see the extended version of this video here). We know the value of great teachers, and in the case of Mr. Malone’s students, they do, too.

Bio
From the City of Lost Angels, Ninja, Mathematician & Musician Stophe Malone is not new to the entertainment scene. Influenced by artist such as Michael Jackson, Rick James, Marvin Gaye, and Sade, Stophe has been able to blend different styles of music into sexy funk grooves. For the past 9 years, he was the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the LA soul-funk band "Burgundy Skies". In that time, he honed his skills as a performer and musician. These skills were a gift developed by his mother at the tender age of 3; he later found love in pursuing the guitar as an extension of his creativity. Stophe Malone is truly a one of a kind songwriter who wrote his first song before he could even write his name, “Songwriting is my escape from the world; it’s a place inside of my soul where reality and imagination make love.” After performing at venues throughout Southern California, he has now embarked on his solo adventure with his debut project showcasing his songwriting in “ II Young IV Love” . The album features songs such as “Curly Fries” and “Give it To You.” “Give it To You" delivers a sultry ode to young lovers angst in his rendition of Rick James’ "Give it to Me Baby;" he pays homage to the generations of music before him by creating a sound that bridges spunky youth and the sexy soul of vintage masterpieces. II Young IV Love gives its listeners an ethereal feeling elevating music and spirit transforming the culture of Millennial Music. Stophe Malone is the definition of “new retro” the sound that all ages can relate to. Stophe is ready to spread his message of love and life to the hearts of the universe.
