"DXclusive: Stoppa Is Finessing On The "Daily""

HipHopDX Exclusive Premiere: Hailing from Los Angeles by way of Texas, Stoppa shuts down LA’s Chinatown district in his new visual for “Daily.” Coined as the new voice of Houston, Stoppa sends fans on a visual trip as he embraces the dark, Hip Hop, melody-infused sound he has become most known for. “Daily” takes listeners on a journey through a typical night in Stoppa’s world as he shares who he is, where he’s going, and the new heights he intends to reach. Stoppa also addresses copycats who follow in his footsteps without giving due credit.

Fresh off of a new deal with Ave Alkalyte Water and several live performances from state to state, if anyone can finesse on the “Daily,” it’s Stoppa. Keep an ear out for Stoppa’s upcoming Weed, Water, Wifi project. - HIpHopDx

"Hype Now"

Stoppa originally posed a question in February. That question? “How To Be Legendary”. Well, he’s not exactly asking questions with his latest single “Hype Now”. Instead, he’s riding the rather jovial beat from Orlando’s Beat Joven to the point that you can boast that you have to fly to your old stomping grounds on the weekends. Yeah, Stoppa’s on that level of boasting and bragging about his exploits. “That’s how it sounds when I stay Stoppa on a $10,000 mic,” is the very first boast he delivers on the track. He moves around from Vegas to LAX to Houston and back, crashing on anybody who decides to ride the wave as opposed to create their own. In other words, the former Shostoppa pretty much is taking aim at all of the checkmarks a braggadocios rap track has, including making sure all of his shooters have Ubers as a form of getaway drivers if they do any type of violence. Yeah, that type of boasting. - Brandon Caldwell

"The YSL Project hosted by Dj Smallz"

Nearly two years in the making, Stoppa's The YSL Project comes in at a breezy pace. It's fat on self-production from the rapper, lean on guests (Prince Cannon is the only one) while balancing mid-level, trap-sized EDM and hard-hitting, bass-heavy Southern rap. As a concept, Stoppa is fully realized, confident in his own life and skills but also in actually crafting songs. "Is That a Stripper," with Cannon, is a R&B escape towards strip clubs and misdirection of job description and titles.

Best Song: "GDoubleOD" -- or maybe because I'm a sucker for a well-crafted track around a recognizable sample. The record in this instance is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Heads Will Roll," and as opposed to being a zero-to-100 party record, Stoppa makes things cascade, looking for his friends to record their fun night and make sure everyone is taken care of. In other words, the LeBron James logic of partying with your boys. Download Here. - Brando Caldwell (Houston Press)

"The Live Life Experience"

The third performer of the night was the excitable producer/rapper Stoppa. The name of the show was pulled from the first single from his mixtape, The YSL Project. With a ferocious and rapid flow, he mixes the realities of life with an optimistic and sometimes comical view of the world around him.

He led the crowd into a call and response of his adopted battle cry of "YaYaoo"! The track of the same name featured that phrase over and over, with a hypnotic beat and a Danny Brown-esque lyrical flow. His love for strippers is showcased in the trio of tracks "Couple Thousand Ones," "A Hunnit" and "Is That a Stripper." Not quite the combination of Juicy J and Mike-Will-Made-It, but pretty damn close. After a mid-set pump fake, he released the hardest track of the night called "1992 Dream Team." That boy balls so hard, mayne! - Marco Torres (Houston Press)

"The Source"

Do you ever take a hard look at your life and go, “What the f&%#?”

Houston-hailing producer and recording artist Stoppa (short for Sho Stoppa) just dropped a new video that will resonate with millennials everywhere whose grand vision of their potential poops on their actual life circumstances.
The sonic lovechild of Jadakiss’s “Why” and Kanye West’s “Spaceship,” this song highlights Stoppa’s lyrical prowess and personal history as a struggling artist determined to follow his passion despite daily obstacles. It’s a relatable perspective with a catchy hook that just may have you setting this track on repeat.
An up and coming emcee in the Southern rap scene, Stoppa says that he strives to spread positivity through living by his personal mantra: “Young, Successful, and Living,” or YSL for short. Download his mixtape the YSL Project and follow him on Twitter @StoppaOnline for more of his work. - Shussain

When thinking on the word renaissance, one thinks of the rebirth of something- an era in which a phoenix -like presence arises from the ashes of past stories untold. It is the culmination of perseverance and tenacity folded into the fire of hope that illuminates the eyes of the phoenix. This said fire is what ignites Stoppa as an artist, songwriter, and producer. In an era where it is socially acceptable to be like everyone else, Stoppa has cultivated a sound that redefines the culture and essence of music. An amalgam of HipHop and EDM, Stoppa sound manages to stay ahead of its time, never abandoning southern influences.

Recently moving to LA this past summer to cultivate his passion, Stoppa has established a relationship with GTA, an example to the credibility of Stoppa’s work ethic and product. Widely considered the rebirth of Hip Hop, Stoppa has performed at the renowned SXSW (South By South West) Interactive Music Festival, Hustle Palooza and Atlanta’s A3C Festival . He has even managed to carve his brand into Las Vegas. Opening for Dom Kennedy's (Get Home Safely Tour, Houston), King Los (God-Money-War Tour, LA) and Curren$y (Canal Street Confidential Tour, LA), Stoppa continues to breathe life into the ashes of Hip Hop- giving fans and listeners a like something tangible to believe in.
