Feeling a bit camera shy

Thomas Osley aka STR8 Caine (Straight Caine) was inspired to the mic by the ‘80s Hip Hop trio, Onyx…”They was so wild and gully…and crack had really hit back then ’89, ’90, ’91…so, shit was getting really wild on that tip!”

Though STR8 Caine was only about 9 years old at the time…his mindset was that of a street hustler…so he was really feeling what the streets were saying.“I was born to a single parent household…I had a step dad on crack and my moms was just doing the best that she could. She was a high school dropout…but she did her best. I took what she had to offer me, from friends and TV shows…That was my family. I have a large extended family…you know people who really don’t express the ‘I love yous’ and all that. My peoples were like ‘If you get in some trouble…we’ll help get yo’ ass out of it…if somebody trying to fight you we got yo’ back!’…That’s how it was and is…my niggas is like my brothas….”

STR8 Caine has been rockin’ the mic for over 10 years and now at age 24 he is finally getting recognition in the game.

“After I got into the game…I went back to my roots…you know Kool G Rap, LL, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, 2Pac…after 2Pac died…I became a monster….I just started slaying niggas on the stage, at ciphers and on the street corners. I started using my life as the canvass for my art, my words and lyrics began reflecting my frustration and need to be heard. Cause I was never really a dummy…I took what I learned in school and the streets and combined it…Now, after a lot of grind, both legal and illegal I’ve become highly respected on the mixtape scene as a hustler and a spitter…ever since I been servin’ cats and handin’ out pink slips!”

STR8 Caine has performed and done features and concerts with Hip Hop artists like Lil Flip, Bonecrusher, MC Breed and Slim Thug and a host of up and coming Midwestern heads.

“Now I’m rolling with one of the slickest producers in the Midwest and soon the world, Grip…He helped me in the organization of my songs…I’ve hooked up with Jay Konneck of Slum Lord Records and he hooked me up with Sik Da Don Sikosa and we did this feature for Sikosa’s album ‘2,190 Days & Still Breathin’ called ‘In Da Club’ with Bonecrusher and now I’m getting mad radio play! It’s definitely my time to shine and if there are some out there that aren’t feelin’ me or are hating just because…Fuck ‘em, I’m STR8 Caine bitch…2005 is my time!”

Caine is currently in the studio working on his first major release album, “Blow” which is slated for early 2005 release. For more information regarding the artist or album contact:
