Raul Ortega sees the danger on U.S. Highway 285 every day.
The 52-year-old pipeline operator drives to and from work on the highway known for heavy oilfield traffic, and recently a string of fatal accidents.
Ortega also started playing drums for Carlsbad rock band Stranded about a year ago, and saw a chance to raise awareness of the peril he and his fellow oilfield workers and Carlsbad residents face every day on that road.

About: STRANDED- a band from Carlsbad New Mexico.
Biography: A southeastern New Mexico band hoping their music can raise more awareness about a notoriously dangerous and deadly highway. Highway 285 is a main thoroughfare in the Permian Basin and has become known for accidents; especially with the take-off of the oilfields.Their song "285" has been featured on KRQE News in Albuquerque.
Opening for bands such as Los Lonely Boys, their originals are beautifully mixed with cool covers, influenced by CCR, Rolling Stones and many others!
Available for any occasion but prefer festivals, casinos and opening acts.
