Recently, SPIN and music community website Sonicbids teamed up to bring worthy new bands the attention they deserve on Boston's radio station WFNX. They will broadcast the latest installment of the SPIN/Sonicbids Emerging Artists' Showcase, featuring eight cool new bands from around the world, hand-picked by SPIN.com staffers from more than 500 submissions. (Tune in to 92.1 FM in the Boston area or listen live online via wfnx.com).

Spin Magazine presents: Sonicbids Radio Show on WFNX FM - Stranded Conqueror - Song: Fooled on Spin Magazine's radio show on WFNX-FM, Boston's legendary alternative rock station. This half-hour emerging artists show is a paid black of time with all the music and programming selected by Spin Magazine. The debut will be for 4 weeks and is designed to highlight the best emerging talent in the Sonicbids community.

Spin will select a minimum of 20 songs to air 101.7 WFNX and simulcast on and wfnx.com's worldwide stream. With over 200,000 radio listeners and 40,000 online listeners per month, WFNX provides a lot of exposure. Also, besides looking great on your resume to have FM airplay, your song will be reviewed by Spin Magazine, so it's a great way to get in front of them too.

Broadcasts will run Fridays at midnight from mid-January to mid-February 2009. Since the show is specifically designed to introduce quality, Sonicbids music to this large radio audience, the selected bands will be prominently showcased with front and back announcements.

Stranded Conqueror's song Fooled got selected for airplay on the first show, tentatively airing at 12 A.M. on Friday night, Jan. 16 (technically Saturday morning). Besides going out over the airwaves, the show will stream worldwide on wfnx.com

STRANDED CONQUEROR
Stranded conqueror is that most revealing of entities – the oneman
band. Usually, it’s a sign that a certain someone (in this instance, Chicago’s Patrick Weymann) doesn’t think anyone else can do
it better than themselves and, usually, they’re quite deluded. Except for Dave Grohl, of course. But our Paddy is self-aware enough
to know of the perils of working alone, which is why his demo EP avoids all the usual pitfalls (bad singing, bad arrangements,
self-indulgent plodding) and sounds as grand-scaled, accomplished and melodically
trustworthy as any post-My Bloody Valentine shoegaze quartet worth their plectra. A respectable singer, a great all-round player and some sweet tunes render the ‘Conqueror
a lone-wolf success story.
