"The Coloradoan, Dec. 5th, 2003"

"Ebullition," by Strange Condition

This might be the best alternative band out of Colorado you've heard yet. This voice of alternative rock doesn't repeat, but only adds to the genre of music.

The guitar solo at the beginning of "Sorry" grabs your attention, and "Fragile" is beautifully orchestrated. They nail down a solid drum/bass pairing in "Perfect World."

Alternative rock followers ought to scramble to their show, if not in Denver this week, in Fort Collins in January. Some of the stuff is a little rough around the edges. Still, with the vocal power of the lead singers, the perfection of the music's timing and the solid direction of each tune, Strange Condition shows a lot of promise and will have a big following along the front range. While compared to bands like Nickelback and Incubus, Strange Condition's sound stands alone. - Anna Maria Basquez

Bio

Strange Condition is a Denver-based rock phenomenon that generates a visually stimulating performance with a passionate energy that is unmatched. Their songs originate from a love deep in their souls and no band expresses that love better than they do. While performing, their emotion drifts across the audience like a sonic wind through wheat until the packed house is jumping, moving, and singing with the energy these five create. The fervor they have displayed has earned them notoriety as the best live act in Colorado. This reputation is evident from the at or near capacity shows at top venues across Colorado like Red Rocks Amphitheater, the Budweiser Event Center, the Fillmore Auditorium, the Gothic Theater, the Aggie Theater, Herman’s Hideaway, The Soiled Dove, and the Starlight Lounge.

With band members coming from diverse musical backgrounds, Strange Condition is well equipped with a wide array of emotion and originality. From tense whispers to raw choruses, singer Ryan Malloy seduces listeners with exquisite harmonies and gripping control. The powerful vocals rest on a solid foundation of infectious, hook-laden, radio-friendly rock reminiscent of Live, Trapt, and The Used. Through creative drum and bass rhythms, haunting keyboards, and innovative guitar work, Strange Condition creates a musical torrent of unequalled passion that alternates between a punch in the teeth to a soothing caress.

Since working with radio stations such as KCSU “CSU Radio,” KPAW “The Bear,” KPPL “The Point,” and KTCL, the recognition of the band’s talent and creativity has only increased. Building off the success of their debut album, Ebullition, Strange Condition is currently working on their second full-length record with certified platinum engineers who have worked on Grammy nominated albums. With an expected release of the album in early 2006, Strange Condition is once again poised to take the region by storm by releasing one of the highest quality albums to ever come out of Colorado. It is only a matter of time before Strange Condition becomes a not-so-strange name across the country.
