The first band to go up was Stranger at the Gate. I could not find any info on the band on the internet so I had no idea what to expect. But they are huge. The singer, Rob Fisher and guitarist, Wade Maude, look like they would be just fine in a Conan the barbarian era sword fight. So, by the intimidating looks of these fellows and the sound check I thought we were in for a slayer-type metal fest. But when the guitars started I was pleasantly surprised. They sounded more like NOFX then Iron Maiden. Though at first listen they sounded like typical three chord punk, they really sprinkle it with some great complicated guitar riffs. The lyrics were about partying and smoking weed and at one point, I think, cheese. The song that really got my attention was called “things we do”. It was a tight, melodic instrumental jam that sounded very Toolesque. The 45 minute set was far too short and I hope to see more of these guys. - Nathan Fisher

Stranger Beginnings
Imagine if you will. In less than a year what began as seemingly innocent and party fueled jams, both in the studio and around the fire the band came together, wrote, gigged and recorded an 11 track album. Thus creating a fresh sound of combined Punk & Metal fusion, consisting of addictive rhythms and heavily powered guitars that contagiously infect the listeners aural senses to the point of extreme gratification. This band arose from the depths of what we now know as the "STRANGER ZONE".
Stranger At The Gate is a high energy Rock Band that has infectious rhythms and powerful guitar oriented music. Recently the bands music has been picked up by an Extreme Sports video production and three of the songs are being used in a Boarding DVD to be released in early 2009. Being high energy the crowds always have a good time at the Stranger shows and express much appreciation for the bands sound and performance.
