"The Patio - Live Review"

"Stranger Lazy draws their sound from the influence of indie rock stalwarts like Guided By Voices and Pavement, though they really don't sound like either of those critically-acclaimed bands. That quest for originality is somewhat missing in Indy. It's good to see one young band looking to do something different..... their set was passionate and just a bit ragged, leaning more toward a good ragged than bad ragged."

"The Cox Sintrific - Album Review"

Stranger Lazy, "The Cox Sintrific" (Indie Release) This is somewhere between Love & Rockets and Love Tractor with a little Tom Verlaine thrown in for good measure. It kind of has an early eighties alternative feel to it. Sort of like The Connells or Camper Van Beethoven without the quirky side. Hell it sounds like half my record collection during that time. It's actually quite good and extremely catchy. My favorite tracks were "And I Punched It", "3..4..5.." and the Syd Barrett styling of "Kidneystones And Palindromes".

"The Cox Sintrific - Album Review"

Good solid entertainment. Indianapolis, Indiana's Stranger Lazy is a cool band with excellent songs. The tunes on The Cox Sintrific are reminiscent of early Guided By Voices. You won't hear lots of unnecessary overdubs and fake glossy studio polish here...only super catchy melodic tunes that get better the more you spin 'em. Excellent guitar riffs combine with above average lyrics...creating an intelligent musical climate where this quartet explores their musical creativity. Fourteen clever tracks here, including "And I Punched It," "Hello Mr. Boombox," "Solar Cop," and "Kidneystones and Palindromes." Smart and inventive. - Baby Sue Reviews by LMNOP

"The Cox Sintrific - Album Review"

"This Indianapolis quartet's fourth album channels grunge in its purest form. It's a hybrid of Built to Spill and Spoon, a snort of acid guitar and strung-out distortion cut with bouncy bass lines. Guitarist Rob Freeman wails in height-of-madness ecstasy and drops to a sweetly haunting murmur a mere three minutes later. The Cox Sintrific offers all the crystalline intensity of a drug trip, minus the slam back to reality." - Magnet Magazine

"The Cox Sintrific - Album Review"

"...Stranger Lazy specializes in putting quirky riffs together that contrast and refract one another randomly like a kaleidoscope. The inventive tunes range from moody to spastic, even symphonic in spots, mixing acoustic and electric guitars and drums with whimsical keyboards and other random bursts of sound..." - Cincinnati City Beat

"The Cox Sintrific - Album Review"

"...The band thrives on the unconventional, from its original artwork to the stream-of-consciousness song titles, to the music itself... Such originality is refreshing and welcome." - LouisvilleMusic.com

Bio

Stranger Lazy got themselves all set up for a weekend of hunting. They gathered their guns and the dogs and the ammunition and the orange hats and tromped about for hours, but with no luck whatsoever. And when they came out of the woods at dusk, they looked around at all the other hunters, who were carrying braces of pheasant and quail, ducks and geese, even a deer or two.

"Gee," said Sandalman to his companion, "everyone else seems to be doing pretty well for themselves. Whaddaya think we could be doing wrong?"

"I dunno," said the other. "Maybe we're not throwing the dogs high enough."

"Good solid entertainment" - Bloomington, IN based Stranger Lazy.
