Biography

In the internet age, access to the long tail of music has blurred the lines of genres and the preconceptions that come with them. For example, no longer is there punk, rock, or alternative. The most intriguing music can seem to borrow from other genres without diluting its purpose but still show off its taste. With today's online music filter, one might have a bit of trouble categorizing the elusive music and performers of Strap-on Sweetie; the music is in unique creation deftly crafted psychedelic electronic pop songs which could fit into a club or burlesque show. The performers themselves are an usual pair that might have been the henchmen in an early David Lynch movie.
In this way, Strap-on Sweetie was created in 2005 - a collaboration between Chicago based producer Clifford Notes (aka Alex Gross) and Los Angeles based musician Ross Carella. Song loops were traded over the internet and the production began. One year later, in October 2007, Notes was dispatched by their label, Studio 11, to mix their first single at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studio in the UK. Label owner, Dan Scalpone picked Real World for its uncompromising tradition of avante garde music. The result was a three song promo EP released worldwide online.
Strap-On Sweetie has currently expanded into fashion with the launch of straponsweetie.com, and is working on a piece for musical theater.
