Stratus

Stratus began life as the brainchild of guitarist Fredrik Andersson and bassist Georg Bivall who for quite a long time nurtured the idea of an oldschool heavy rock band with the aesthetics of the early 70s. Eventually, after they executed the idea through deciding upon a three-piece lineup and thus simply would require a drummer, which they found in Robert Wiiand during the end of 2012. The trio realized they clicked after jamming through Creams Sunshine of your love during their first meeting. They immediately ventured into rehearsing the ever-growing collection of self-written songs, the first of which was Riddle for the ages, ever since becoming a fan favourite.

In March 2013 they gathered together in Stockholm to record a demo EP which became very well received both in Sweden as well as abroad. The following April they played the first in a row of gigs at Plektrum Bar in their hometown rebro, a gig which instantly earned them new fans. Throughout the rest of 2013 they have been around the country playing several venues including a free festival in Sljeryd where they gained much appreciation among the hippie crowds.

During late summer they gathered forces with fellow producer Kent Cederstrm and started laying down the tracks for what would become their first album, Stratology, consisting of twelve tracks, including riff-heavy rockers as well as jazzy shuffles and soaring progressive epics. The plans for 2014 are to set out for more gigs around the country and abroad, and with a little luck and much hard work, getting a contract. New songs are constantly added to the repertoire and the follow-up to the debut album will be on its way during the year as well.
