"Strayplay redo för Springpride"

Eskilstuna.
Mark Shellhas was born and raised in South Africa. Now he lives in Sweden and the will to Eskilstuna to occur during the stage name Stray Play at Springfield Pride Festival.
- Now I live in Sweden and then I might as well occur here, he says.

Just over three months ago, Mark Shellhas to Sweden to settle here.

- Here in Stockholm, I have my girlfriend Linn. I also have my father and a brother here so it feels good to get closer to them, says Mark who actually was born and raised in South Africa. But the closest he comes from London where he lived for a time.

In Sweden, he has only been once before and then mostly at sea.

- We sailed up here and saw the country's great coastal cities. But then it was summer. Now in January when I was here it was like a shock to me. I have never seen so much snow and cold it was, too. There is a vast difference of weather in this country, he says, laughing.

But he thinks he will enjoy working with the alternating seasons.

- Sweden is a very beautiful country and it was very nice with all the snow.

From London

Closest he comes from London where he is attached to a production company.

Music was Mark main interest since he was little. When he was nine he learned to play piano and began composing his own songs in rock and popgenren. Somewhat later came the guitar into his life.

- In the 20s it became more club music. Electronic music with dance and house.

Since then, he had time for much of the music and entertainment industry. For example, he co-founded the company I Love Music Entertainment in 2007 with artist arranging and music production as some parts of the business.

Mark still plays piano, both acoustic and electric bass. Piano and keyboard are other instruments he regales. At times, he has worked with other artists (such as Lily Allen), both as musicians and as a producer. He has also started several bands he toured with, but now he is betting on his own solo career where he does everything from start to finish.

- It's a long process but very interesting to do absolutely everything. Compose, record, mix, ... yes, to manage the entire production chain itself.

And on Friday 27 May, he will thus come to Eskilstuna to occur along with some guest musicians, with new and fresh material.

- It's about a 20-25 minute show with newly composed songs, songs from my new album released in early or mid-June.

He has actually been in Eskilstuna once before, privately, when he was visiting friends.

- When I was at Pubquiz and it was really nice - marianne.jansson@folket.se

"You can’t have enough vuvuzela songs or anthems. Right?"

Grandstands will creak and shudder. Supposedly invented to scare baboons away from remote African villages, the mass-produced vuvuzela makes the kind of noise you’d expect to hear if you had a hippo in a headlock.
You can’t have enough vuvuzela songs or anthems right? right. Well, StrayPlay decided to get in the vuvu action and have a nice little treat for you in the form of Vuvuzela Anthem. The video shows various clips of South Africans and their vuvzelas. Some of it’s funny, some of it is cute and some of it just plain unique. You can even hear real vuvzelas being blown in the background. I could have been hearing real vuvuzelas since Portugal annihilated North Korea today. Or it could have a part of the song. Who knows? All I know is the loud, incessant sound of the vuvuzela isn’t going away anytime soon. Get used to it!

About Strayplay
Multi-instrumentalist and producer, Mark Schellhas (South Africa), along with jazz sax wizard, Fride Hanberger (Sweden), inject a uniquely hip-shaking, lip-licking combination of live guitars, percussion, keys and creative sampling, into every party scene they perform in.

2010 Was the year that saw Strayplay relocate to London, UK, to record their first self-titled EP.Yet, despite their move and their commitment to the new recording schedule, Strayplay released one single in June 2010, called Vuvuzela Anthem - a song inspired by a return to Cape Town during the World Cup 2010 games in Marks home country. Soon after its release, Vuvuzela Anthem flew up the mobile charts in Israel (reach #3 on Orange and #16 on Pelephone) and was licensed to the Rock Band Network in the USA, resulting in the video game release of Vuvuzela Anthem on Rock Band 3 for XBox 360.

Now, theres no time like the present for Strayplay as they release their first EP through pioneering Australian independent label, Difrnt Music, and embark on a journey to introduce their music and live show to the world in 2011.
