Bio

Winning a local band contest in Terceira, Azores, in 2002, was an important jump start for Strëam. The tour that followed gave the band the chance to win over the recognition of the public and for the first time they performed outside the Azores in Porto's Fnac.
Four years later, Strëam returned to Porto with brand new songs and strengthened by experience to record at IM Studios some tracks with producer Ivo Magalhães. From these recordings came “An other story”, the single that in late 2006 boosted Strëam worldwide.
The song becomes a hit in Australia where it climbs the Top 40 World Indie Countdown, a chart that lists the tracks more played on the Australian radio, to the 16Th position. An achievement that raised national interest about the azorean band. Sic, a Portuguese television channel did a special report about Strëam during prime time and the single started playing in Portuguese radios, especially in Antena 3 and in Best Rock FM, a radio station that made Strëam feature artists of the month.
Internationally, Strëam’s success didn’t end in Australia. In March 2007, the band signed a contract with the New York record label Cutie Pop Records that launched and promoted the single in the United States where it was well received by the radio stations. In the States, “An other story” is also picked to be one of the songs featured in “Into the groove”, a Red Cross and Hot Sauce Records project that unites upcoming artists from all around the world in a record with the intention of raising money for charity.
In the beginning of 2008, Strëam’s single continues to make its way in the North American market. “An other story” is chosen to be on the soundtrack of “Shred”, a film featuring comedian Tom Green about the adventures of two professional snowboarders in the end of their careers.
After the great results of “An other story”, Strëam teamed up again with producer Ivo Magalhães, in the IM Studios, in Porto, to record their first record which is entitled “Follow the Stream”. The CD, which will be launched this May by Nine Media Records, includes photos from Rita Carmo, who has been a photographer for Blitz, a Portuguese music magazine, for more than 10 years.
“Stand up” is the first single from the new album. It continues the rock sound that characterizes Strëam’s style.
