THA STREET STRINGA
The Worlds Only Female Hip-Hop Violin R&V RAPPER
(Rap & Violin / Rhythm & Violin)
Tha Street Stringas live band and dancers bring an electrifying show like none ever seen. High energy flows, visual spectacle and crowd participation make Tha Street Stringas hip-hop violin appearances a cant-miss event. Tha Street Stringa brings an entirely new form of music to audiences around the world called R&V (Rap and Violin / Rhythm and Violin). Tha Street Stringas newest project The Street Stringer is sure to bring the fully hip-hop, fully female vibe her fans crave.
Other violinists have merged hip-hop with classical and jazz music to create a progressive instrumental sound. But while these violinists only play music, Tha Street Stringa actually MCs on the microphone as she plays her custom seven-string violin. An accomplished classically trained violinist, producer, lyricist, songwriter, drummer, arranger, pianist, engineer, break dancer, and entertainer, Tha Street Stringa does what no other rapper or hip-hop violinist has ever done write, produce, rap and perform an innovative mix of hip-hop/rap, jazz- and classically- influenced street symphony for hungry audiences around the world.
Tha Street Stringa assumed the mantle of classical violin at age ten. While reaching the top of her classical game in the OAYO Youth Philharmonic, OAYO Youth Symphony, All-City Orchestra, All-State Orchestra and UNL Music Program, something dramatic happenedshe fell in love with hip-hop. She picked up the keyboard and drum machine and live drums, and the female hip-hop MC/Producer was born. Tha Street Stringas ability to switch from instrument to instrument mixed with dynamic playing and vocals in her live shows have prompted some to compare her to a female Prince. Since then, Tha Street Stringa has grabbed the live mic in over 22 states and nationally and internationally distributed two full-length projects and numerous underground tracks. Tha Street Stringa has shared stages with, produced and/or engineered with national and independent acts in every urban genre from Rap (Bun-B, Devin The Dude, TRAE, Too $hort), R&B (LuvLuv, The Last Few), Jazz (Lady Mac, George Walker), Inspirational (KJ-52, 4th Avenue Jones, GRITS, Pettidee, Cross Movement) and more.
To add icing to the cake, Tha Street Stringas musical messages of empowerment ring through her music, proving that hip-hop doesnt have to be a hotbed of decline in urban communities around the world. Tha Street Stringa uses both her voice and her violins voice to speak the language of hip-hop. Her sharp, controversial blend of social commentary, sexual sanity and empowerment thought are weaved together with an instrument that uses its own sound to communicate the heart as well as the pulse of the lyrics. Tha Street Stringa is equally comfortable at concerts, festivals, colleges, school and community events, all-ages shows, inspirational events and public speaking engagements.
Hip-hops ability to take from its environment and create new life is what has made it the art form with the most staying power of any other modern form of music. Whether its mixtapes, DJing on vinyl or CD turntables, remixes, freestyles or battles, hip-hop has always been a combination of improvisation and creativity, leading to new combinations of existing elements to create a completely new sound. Tha Street Stringas hip-hop violin and musical genius honors this time-tested tradition, even as she evolves and reinvents urban music for a new generation with her signature R&V sound.
