Bio

The 5-piece Melbourne rock band Stringfellow Hawke formed in 2011 after a passionate dispute about artistic integrity between old friends, guitarist George Timothy and singer Joel Jenkins. Initially, the two came to blows over their
differences in musical direction, vowing to never play music with each other again despite years of close friendship and shared music passion. However, the next morning, after some time to cool off, a phone call was made, differences were put aside and Stringfellow Hawke was born. The remaining members Matt Doolan (rhythm guitar), Christian Prochilo (bass) & Jimmy Cartledge (drums) joined the band
soon after bringing a sense of musical completeness. The group have arrived at a special synergy, however the tension that formed the band is clearly evident in the
soul of their music.

Although the Stringfellow Hawke sound is built on an intricate foundation, it remains accessible to a seasoned rock listener. On first listen the subtlety of their entwined
structures could be missed, with emotive vocals and memorable hooks guiding the listener through floating progressive soundscapes. However, this is not a prog-rock
band. They intend to connect with an audience who seek something more from contemporary rock music, and hint at a future where intelligence, exotic influences and unexpected directions lead a listener into an in-depth and highly personal artistic exchange. Their early work begins to take shape as dreamy, expansive walls of interwoven textures with snap shots from the depths of the human psyche.
