"The acoustic jam duo, String Theory, will be performing at the Century Post Pub in Lowell Fridays and Saturdays till the end of March. There is no cover charge and the music starts at 9:30 and continues until 1:00 AM.

They hope to have some of their special guests on hand to jam with and to fill in between sets. String Theory plays their own interpretations of classic rock and acoustic jam music. The duo features acoustic guitar, electric bass, mandolin, and vocals and their friends often sit in playing a variety of instruments.

The Century Post Pub is a great place to enjoy the music while you chat with friends. It is located at 203 East Main Street in Lowell next to the Lowell Showboat and the Flat River Grill. You'll want to try their fries which are just like the ones at the fair. Or dine next door at the Flat River Grill before you come in for the show.

"String Theory Honors the life of Brandon Taylor"

String Theory will be performing on the patio at Larkin's on Saturday, June 11th from 8-11 PM in tribute to Brandon Taylor. On June 11th, 2004 Brandon Taylor died while attending the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, TN. Friends and relatives of Brandon Taylor are encouraged to join us in remembering his life on this first anniversary of his death.

Brandon's step-father, John Wenger, who was with him at Bonnaroo plays bass and mandolin for the band, String Theory. String Theory plays their own interpretations of popular classic rock, folk, bluegrass, and alternative rock songs. The duo describes their sound as acoustic jam music. John Wenger (bass and mandolin) and Tim Freewind (acoustic guitar) will be joined by Casey Troyer (electric lead), Steve Parker (Banjo), and others. They also plan on having other acts on hand to fill in between sets.

Larkin's has horseshoe pits and barbeques in the patio area. Come for dinner and stay for the show. Take advantage of their special drink prices for this show only. Larkin's is located in one of Lowell's oldest historic buildings at 301 West Main Street in Lowell, MI.

"New Open Mic/ Jam every Wednesday in Lowell"

The acoustic jam duo String Theory is hosting a new open mic night / jam session at the Century Post Pub in Lowell. The open mic night will be held every Wednesday beginning at 9 PM.

John Wenger and Tim Freewind from String Theory hope this weekly event will develop into a dynamic forum for musicians to get together and exchange tunes. Musicians are welcome to perform original as well as cover material or to just show up and play along with the band.

They intend to use this event to try out new musicians to sit in with their band. String Theory is always looking for individuals to join them on stage and they hope these Wednesday jam sessions will be an opportunity to meet some new talent. Whenever String Theory performs, they like to have a 3rd member sitting in with them. According to Tim, "Having a different third player sit in with us keeps our reportoire fresh and helps us to approach the same music in a new way every night."

Keeping busy playing pubs and parties, String Theory hasn't had much time to rehearse new material lately. These Wednesday evenings will be an opportunity for them to put together some new stuff in front of a live audience. As John explains, "We've been around long enough that we're no longer afraid to try new things and stretch a little even if it means crashing a song in the middle, talking about it on stage, and trying it all over again. I think the audience likes it. They can identify with us as real people and appreciate having a look under the hood to see what makes us tick."

Musicians, grab your instrument and come out to the Century Post Pub on Wednesdays to try your stuff in front of a friendly audience! John and Tim also have acoustic guitars, an electric bass, and a mandolin you can borrow if you need to.

Everyone else, come out for a few drinks and enjoy the music. Its a great place to hand out on a Wednesday night!

To get to the Century Post Pub, take Fulton Street east of Grand Rapids 15 miles to Lowell. The pub is just past the Lowell Showboat on the North side of Main Street. You are welcome to just show up and get on the performance list. If you need an appointment or have any other special needs, email the band, stringtheory@thewengers.net. String Theory is available to play clubs, private parties, or other special events. Contact them for more information." - West Michigan Music

Bio

String Theory evolved from jam sessions happening at firepits and private parties throughout Southwest Michigan. Our goal is bring the magic and energy of these firepit jam sessions to your event.

To accomplish this we utilize a large group of diverse guest musicians playing a variety of instruments. We also perform our songs with loose arrangements and open spaces for jams. Often we arrange a song differently while in the middle of playing it. The combination of guest musicians and loose arrangements keeps our music fresh and gives it an excitement that can't be rehearsed.

Our audiences respond to this enthusiastically.

We do a variety of traditional jam band material but often branch out into other genres including country, folk, bluegrass, alternative rock, oldies, and current hits. This variety keeps the music fresh for us and appeals to a wide range of ages and social groups.

Here is what one of our clients, CarolAnne Giustina, who was the event planner for the Jeep King of The Mountain 2005 World Series of Mountain Biking had to say, "I want to tell you how much we enjoyed your music performance for our event in Grand Rapids. Just as I had hoped, it was the perfect blend for our varied guest list. "
