"String Theory Tonight"

Fayetteville band String Theory will throw a CD release party tonight at George's Majestic Lounge. The night will be a big one for the band, which is releasing their debut album and celebrating their one year anniversary.

String Theory puts out a tight blend of funk, jazz, fusion and rock. Their improvisational skills make each show unique. In addition to performing their original songs, the band is likely to turn some of their cover repertoire upside down and wind them around before they bring them back to the top. The band's musical influences range from Miles Davis and Eric Johnson to Tool and Led Zeppelin.

String Theory's self-titled debut album was recorded by Dwight Chalmers at the Listen Laboratory in Fayetteville. The album chronicles the last year of songwriting, ranging from simple funk to hard rock and even hip-hop.

"Fan Review"

"The first time I saw String Theory I was blown away.. they have amazing talent.. the guitar, bass, or drum solos are intense, unique, and far from simple....
along with vocals that are absolutely incredible, actually the vocals are what first caught my initial attention.
Their C.D. is awesome. It has a unique sound with added insturments like the horns and great arrangements. It's not the same regurgitated rock we all have heard over and over again.
The C.D. is one of those you can put in and listen to it straight through without having to skip around.
But truly nothing is better than seeing them live. Seeing them live is how I first got hooked."

Bio

A supergroup of sorts, the band consists of Amos Cochran, Clinton Lancaster, and Michael Silvey. All three performed together in the Thomas Grey Band, recepient of the 2003 Ozark Music Awards and 2004 Northwest Arkansas Music Awards New Band of the Year award. The three eventually went their separate ways only to reunite in December of 2004 with the idea of putting their experiences and musical aptitude to good use. One might find it difficult, albeit enjoyable, to categorize the genre of music these three create, but it’s safe to say that no kind of music is off limits as the three have a wide range of musical influences. From artists Miles Davis to Eric Johnson to Tool, the three showcase their individual tastes and talent on a nightly basis. String Theory released
its self-titled debut album in March to much anticipation and critical acclaim. Within the past year, the band has been nominated for New Band of the Year in both the Ozark Music Awards and Norhwest Arkansas Music Awards. Between the positive feedback from live shows, stellar reviews from online music databases, praise from local musicans, and award nominations, the future certainly looks bright for these three twenty-something musicians
