Bio

Born Darnell Robinson at Stanford hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area, raised predominantly in Oakland, STRONG had music embedded in his genes before he was even a thought.
His grandmother Alma K. Robinson was an aspiring singer in the 40’S and might have had great success had she not bore 3 beautiful children and chose to raise her family with solid morals and values.
The second oldest, Warren T. Robinson, would grow up to inherit his mothers drive and musical prowess and go on to master the harmonica, learn studio engineering, disc jockey for Bay Area indie radio station KPOO, work closely with super group Sly and The Family Stone and start his own group Isomatic.
Naturally, STRONG would literally be saturated with a musical archive from the womb, absorbing and being influenced by almost all genres of music, to the tomb.
Unaware of his father’s past run-ins with the law, fits of defiance for authority and charismatic fighting spirit, STRONG would inherit and ultimately duplicate all of his fathers early endeavors and impactful idealisms. This unguided duplication would unfortunately lead STRONG to a torn childhood, resulting in a low threshold for anger, which in turn would lead to incarceration.
At age fifteen STRONG was sentenced to 2 years in the California Youth Authority where he would not only learn an immense amount of text book knowledge, he would also grab hold of his individuality, leadership, fearlessness , patience and wisdom.
In 1994 Darnell would embrace Islam in an attempt to get closer to his inner power and the Almighty himself. A name would be added to his own to complete his spiritual awakening and that name is QAWII. The english translation of QAWII is STRONG and with this, he began to teach Islam.
Through the following years and countless struggles, STRONG left the idea of religion altogether and could find no real inner peace except through music. As a child of the Rap generation he naturally gravitated towards it with an uncanny unbiased ear, independent views and a pen always at the ready!
Driven by a willingness to nurture the independent mind and empower the proletariat (the lowest social or economic class of a community), STRONG understood the power of oration through music and set out to achieve just that by the street diary that all have come to know as RAP.
Knowing music can never constantly be on one topic, he has penned many inspirational, feel good songs, as well as songs that tell different sides and views of not just inner city issues, but human issues in general.
With a powerful voice, tone of conviction and a bloodline of revolutionary, reactionary musicians and thinkers, it is his own belief that WHEN given the chance, he will definitely make one hell of an impact on earth….. Not just the U.S.
