“We suffered for our music; now it’s your turn,” claims bass player John. Kidding aside, this is one New Jersey band you’ve got to go out and hear. It’s a guaranteed good time.
Why? Stronger Than Dirt plays great songs. Period. Their official motto is “Songs That Don’t Suck,” and they hold true to that philosophy, playing an eclectic mix of classic rock, eighties pop and current hits. Their mission is to have fun. “Why would we do it if it weren’t fun?” says Steve. “We play because we love it. We get itchy if we have a weekend off. Luckily that doesn’t happen often.” That attitude comes across as strong as their name.
Stronger Than Dirt had its humble beginnings back in 1997 when the guys met at a weekly open jam. Since then they have won a few Battles of the Bands, played the Stone Pony and had a three-year stint on the Jersey Shore as the Saturday night house band at Krone’s in Lavallette.
Now, with their strongest lineup ever, Stronger Than Dirt is playing just about every weekend of the year to crowded rooms from the Shore to New Hope, PA and everywhere in between. Their current play list has been created to get you up off your feet, dancing, and having a good time.
“It’s more fun for us if the audience is having fun,” says Rhea. “We’re a party band.”
