Bio
Born on May 27 1973 Stuart Lennie grew up with his father's love of Folk, Rock, Bluegrass and Blues music. With the turn table always spinning, Stu was heavily influenced by such artists as John Denver, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, to name a few.
Not until after the death of his father in 2002, did Stu become interested in playing the guitar. Wanting to learn to play some of the songs that he and his dad listened to together, the guitar became an integral part in his life. During this time fate brought Stu into contact with numerous musicians who became friends and musical mentors.
The desire to express inner emotions as well as views on local and world events led Stuart to start writing and composing songs around 2004. Drawing from musical influences such as Fred Eaglesmith, Gillian Welch and most importantly Neil Young, the songs began to pour out.
Playing at open stages and house parties were good testing grounds for the unique style of music Stuart was writing. Once described as "Hillbilly Punk", the artist himself had a hard time to put his music in one single genre.
Around 2007, Stu's dads' old garage started to be transformed into a jam/recording space and the "Leaky Shack" was born. The Shack became a hang out for local musicians and artists. At about this time Stu was given an electric guitar and things got a bit raunchier in the Shack. Experimenting with hard rock and metal sounds was a growing passion of his.
As of 2010 with a undeniable urge to perform and record his music, Stu is still writing new material.
