Some of you have heard of a band called Student Uprising, or maybe you remember seeing our interview in a previous paper. If not, I'm here to fill you in on things, both past and present, about the band.
Started a little over two years ago, Student Uprising is Bay View's very own rock band trio. Members of this band include: Derek Mlaker (guitar and vocals), Joe Frederickson (drums) and Kelsey Frederickson (Bass and vocals) - The Bay View Oracle

Student Uprising is an alternative rock trio straight from the depths of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Starting in early 2002, Student Uprising has been all around Wisconsin and has stolen many hearts in the past 3 years. Kelsey, Derek, and Joe act as if they are one small family, and they have created powerful and distinct rock music for the likings of all generations. The live show they put on is something you cannot describe as it is a very enlighting and powerful experience that will grab you right out of your seats and get you moving to the flow of the catchy lyrics and guitar licks, angry drumming, and bass riffs you wont believe. The unique sound of modern rock, punk, hardcore minus the screaming, and just a little taste of 80's hairbands gives them a style that isnt even known as a genre yet. No band their age has been this accomplished thus far and creating a unique sound that cannot be totally explained until your very own ears experience it. They've been into the studio to record their first EP intitled "Talk to Me" in early August of 2004 and then went into the studio again Christmas of 2004 to record their long-awaited debut album, "Only This and Nothing More" which was released in January of 2005. Right now, they've made a name for themselves in the local scene by playing all over Milwaukee and Wisconsin. Look out for Student Uprising in a town near you this summer as they go on their first nation-wide tour in hopes of catching your very own heart.
