Stych formed in North Carolina when vocalist/guitarist, Derek Allman and drummer Dustin Allman met with their brand new bassist, David Diffee to record their first demo, which was compiled of five songs Derek had previously written.

The day their first demo was recorded was the day the band was formed. With this in mind, the trio was highly motivated and decided that there was going to be a bright future for Stych.

After a summer of cousins Derek and Dustin Allman getting to know David Diffee, staying up night after night writing five additional songs for an album, and recording, Stych finally released their first album, Drifter. The end of the summer was topped off in downtown Durham, NC, where the band had a phenomenal amount of people attend for their first show.

Since then, the band has been playing shows all over NC,

"It's hard to call us a local band. David lives in Asheville, Dustin lives in Fayetteville, and I'm in the middle of all of it in Raleigh. We're more like a 'state-wide' band. We play Asheville, Jacksonville, Fayetteville, Durham, Greensboro. We plan to play as many cities in NC as we can. Then expand to cities across the whole country. Then the whole world," says Derek.

Even though there is so much distance between the band memebers, it has never kept them from reaching the goals they want to fulfill.

"The summer is where it's at. Whenever we get out of school for the summer we all migrate to our 'hometown' of Fayetteville, NC to write more songs and work to get more shows."
