Hailing from Nova Scotia, this five piece Canadian band have created a CD of skillfully executed progressive metal with plenty of melodic awareness and an array of technical death metal influences. Fans of Death's later, more-involved work should find plenty to enjoy here. Each one of the four tracks on offer is highly impressive, with 'Over My Dead Body' perhaps just edging out 'Tides of Consciousness' for the title of standout track. The sound is excellent (bar a few minor reservations about the drum sound), the lyrics intelligent, and the presentation very good indeed. All in all, a fine effort from a very promising band. Bio
Stygian Sky began as a simple recording project between a couple of close friends. The resulting chemistry had sparked the desire to expand the project and before long, a full band line-up was established. The band soon settled upon a sound that would best capture their interests and abilities, and they began work on their first public demo which was released in late 2008.
Stygian Sky continues to work on material for their first full-length recording with plans to support the release with a jaw dropping live experience.
