"On All Frequencies: Surprise of the Year"

Subatomic Sound System is a collective of vocalists working with dub mastermind Emch of Dub Champions. "On All Frequencies" takes on dub, underground hip hop, broken-beat and dancehall and packs them into 14 sonic gems. "Ghetto Champion" is what Damien Marley should have been working on.

"Treasure Don" is on point and the groove will keep the dancefloor sweating.

Nemiss shows that she has flow with the best on cuts like "No Static" and "Doin’ It" and has lyrics to match her confidence on the mic.

Rhiannon’s vocals seduce on "Fly Free" as the dub shuffles on a funky clavinet riff.

The album is well paced to keep things moving and the instrumental tracks are a nice breather without sounding like filler. The production is fantastic and the vocals mesh so well that the songs are stronger than anticipated. No slapped on vocals and only stellar production throughout. The songs work perfectly with each vocalist and help to bring out their vocal talents rather than bury them in the mix.

I give On All Frequencies high marks and put this down as the surprise of the year so far.

"'On All Frequencies' Five stars *****"

"Editor's Commentary"

"It gives me the same feeling I get listening to early Massive Attack work, not because of the sound directly, but because of the artistic energy & flavor everyone brings into the project. Great work!"

"4 Afro Rating!"

Subatomic Sound System holds a clinic on the standard of releases for 2007 on their newest album, On All Frequencies. Subatomic Sound System provides artful lyricism and soulful singing complimented by a backdrop of melodic and innovative beats. These beats not only sound different, but the timing is something new, and the usage of these beats could become a blueprint for future producers.

Full review here:

The instrumental, final track, “Hydroponic Dub” allows the genius producing of On All Frequencies to take the stage.

Not enough can be said about the producing of On All Frequencies. -

"On CMJ Top 40 Reggae & Electronic charts simultaneously"

During March & April, Subatomic Sound System's "On All Frequencies" was simultaneously in both the CMJ Top 40 World (reggae) and Top 40 RPM (electronic). Boom! - CMJ

"live show review: "the crowd was going nuts!""

Subatomic Sound System Live @ The Danger Halloween Party || Bushwick Brooklyn || The true magic of the evening for me was a stellar performance by the Subatomic Sound System. [Rhiannon] smoked over the tracks... By the time they broke into their dub set, the crowd was going nuts! This was a little into the set, after some killer drum and bass featuring the insane vocals of Naada. Big props to Scientifik, who seamlessly (and genuinely) mixed and dubbed up a slew of genres from hip hop to drum and bass to pure roots dub and dancehall. This massive collaborative effort has truly blossomed from my first run in with them at BPM - and they kicked ass even then. Treasure Don and Daddy Lion Chandell are now a force to be reckoned with. I sense this duo is maturing into oneness, voicing bass and treble over the solid tracks of Scientifik and tha Riddim Doktor. -

New Blackboard Jungle dubstep 12" feat. Lee Scratch Perry & Jahdan drops July '09.

Founded at the turn of the millennium, NYC’s Subatomic Sound System has built a reputation worldwide for explosive shows, innovative production, and breaking down barriers with their unique adaptation of 1970’s Jamaican sound system culture and dub reggae studio techniques to current music genres, technology, and live performances.

With a stack of releases on 6 different labels in 2008, touring worldwide as DJ, live electronic act, or live band, sold out vinyl collaboration with reggae legend and dub innovator Lee Scratch Perry and Vienna's Dubblestandart, Subatomic Sound System started 2009 ready to shine on their upcoming album and on stage.

Subatomic is an all star NYC cast including Jahdan Blakkamoore (Dutty Artz/Gold Dust) of Noble Society (winner of iTunes reggae album of the year) and memeber of Diplo & Switch's Major Lazer project. Also, we have Daddy Lion Chandell (member of the legendary Meditations vocal trio).
