Bio

Subject 2 Change leader, Brett Schneider, started out life singing and never really quit. From funny family gatherings to features in Show Choir, Brett showed panache, learned backstage craft and decided that instead of being just another guy singing about his broken heart at the local coffee shop he would go out and wrestle life to the ground, then tell everyone about it.

His odyssey led to experimental musings about life, love and loss – the progressions shape shifting into a series of lyrical stories which resonated with band members and charmed the audiences who kept coming back to hear more of the musical journey. Fronting the band, he continued writing new music and lyrics, creating a dynamic sound occasionally interspersed with his own soulful solos on acoustic guitar.

The band’s changeling style began to coalesce mid 2007 after entering the Playboy Jazz Festival Battle of the Bands contest. Looking for just the right name, he was inspired by the subjects of his music’s themes – change. Everything in life is… Subject 2 Change.

Original bassist Craig Auten adds the underpinnings, the keyboard gets hot as Brian Sherman fleshes out the melodies, Mark Duran shreds lead guitar licks and the newest member, drummer Chris Owens, completes the tight cohesion of sound.

Traveling in Southern California to various gigs the band plays parties and many local clubs quickly working their way up to such acclaimed venues as The Mint, Whiskey A Go Go, culminating in a headline gig at the Key Club on the Sunset Strip.

Witty wordplay, a life-is-tough attitude and more than a little sex appeal leave growing groups of fans yearning for more Brett-isms and has resulted in return engagements at some of the bigger clubs and the invitation for a local club residency.
