The best kept secret in music

"Briarcrest students in a RUSH to show spirit"

"R U Seeking Him?" (RUSH) was the question posed to the high school students of Briarcrest Christian School during Spiritual Emphasis Week. "Meant to Live," the title of a song by the popular band Switchfoot, was the theme. Houston Hughes designed the RUSH 2005 T-shirt, and various Christian bands with Memphis connections led worship.

Submerged Truth is a band of three Briarcrest juniors: Casey Childs, Evan Swift and Austin Purvis, and senior Nathan Darnell of Collierville.

Junior Matthew Lutey said, "Submerged Truth excited the crowd by playing familiar songs, and it was impressive to see their high level of professionalism."

The band Submerged Truth started out 4 years ago with guitarists and vocalists Casey Childs and Evan Swift. After around 2 years of song writing, bassist Austin Purvis joined the two. Months later, after several drummers, Nate Dizzle was asked to accompany the trio in the high school talent show. Months later, Dizzle rejoined the guys permanently and Submerged Truth was complete. After playing many shows at local places, churches, battle of the bands, and school, and also recording a 4 song demo, they are hoping to make a name for the band. The four share a passion for playing music and hope that others will enjoy what they have to bring. This is only the beginning....
