Subplane

Subplane formed in the Fall of 2009 with guitarist Matt Creed, bassists Bill Marzano, and lead singer and keyboardist Kenton Brace. They began performing regularly in Chicago’s music scene that December. Months later, the original drummer was replaced by Kenton’s brother Aaron Brace, now the residing drummer of the band. Now they continue to bring music that is rhythmic and grooving combined with stellar improvisational solo jams and rich harmonic vocals to the Midwestern nightlife. Subplane will also slip in well-thought-out and fan-friendly cover songs for a complete show of familiar favorites and memorable original songs. The band’s music features various styles and influences with poetic lyrics, pop-culture references, and tales of various experiences of these musicians.

In their first year, they completed a 5 track EP, performed at U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, two times, as well as such historic venues as the Kinetic Playground, and the Double Door. They were even invited to Roseau, Minnesota to perform for former Blackhawks player and friend of the band, Dustin Byfuglien, for his hometown Stanley Cup celebration where Lord Stanley himself was the guest of honor on stage with the quartet.

In December of 2010, Subplane relased a full-length debut album boasting eleven original tunes entitled Holding Pattern influenced by the band's name. The tracks on this album take you on a journey, much like that of one by air and by sea and has an ebb and flow as if riding waves and then suddenly taking flight or crashing beneath the water's surface. Holding Pattern is available on all major online music distributors such as iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, and Zune, as well as in CD format at the band’s live appearances.
