Bio
Substance formed in Uxbridge (West London) in November 1993 from the ashes of two of the foremost bands in the area at the time. Guitarist Grant Wilson and drummer John McShee left indie combo Babapapa to join vocalist/guitarist Wayne Houchin and bass player Wayne Tiedt of the grunge influenced Need.
The band played their first gig at the now defunct Old Trout in Windsor supporting up and coming indie crusties Big Boy Tomato. Over the years substance have played at numerous venues supporting a number of bands of national and international popularity, including L7, Reef, Done Lying Down, Skyscraper (legendary ex of Milk and Swervedriver), old friends Monkey Boy, XCNN and Dick Dale (the King of Surf Guitar and of Pulp Fiction theme fame)
