Bio

Subterranea erupted onto the scene in 2004, bringing a unique female fronted hard rock sound to the stages of London. The band has built up a reputation for great live performances, combining heavy grooves and a powerful guitar sound with soaring, melodic vocals and a captivating stage presence.

The band released their first EP in the summer of 2005. The initial 100 copies were quickly sold at gigs and received rave reviews. John Swaine of Neon Promotions described the lead off track Overrated as a "damn catchy rocker" and live favourite Lyrical Kind as "big and solid....... awesome." Lyrical Kind has been a constant fixture in the BandsUnsigned.net top 20 since November 2005, peaking at number 1. Overrated also won the Best Female Vocals category on Garageband.com (August 2005). After finishing recording their second four track EP, Velvet Lies, the band resumed their live campaign, regularly performing at venues in London and around the south east such as the Bull & Gate, Purple Turtle and Hope & Anchor. This culminated in them reaching the semi-finals of the Surface Unsigned Festival in July 2008 where they narrowly lost out on a place in the final. After this, the band decided to take an indefinite break from performing and writing.

Following nearly a year of inactivity, Subterranea reformed in May 2009 with the original lineup. Since then they have been working on new material and made their triumphant live return at the end of last year.
