Bio
The spirit of Sucka Please began in the mid-2000s when two friends, guitarist Shaw McMahon (Utopia native-in fact, he's neighbors with Travis and the 4 Sisters!) and drummer, Matt Moreno found an epic chemistry fueled by passion for hard-hitting funk and blues music. Soon afterward, their buddy Anne Marie Smart joined the mix with her wicked guitar style, the most aggressive you are likely to see from a fair lady. Sucka Please officially formed in 2011, when Natalie Duran (Shaw's sweetheart) picked up a bass and gave the group a novel groove. As a group of best friends, intimately aware of each other's mannerisms and creative backgrounds, we synergize to create an unadultered, lively sound. The band members share a love for all that is both funky and rockin', heavily influenced by the likes of The Meters, Funkadelic, Sly & The Family Stone, early Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Galactic, and White Denim, among many others.
