Bio

Toronto band Sudden combines the sound of raucous
rock n' roll, weighty drum n' bass breaks
with thought-provoking lyrics. The result
is a highly danceable, energetic electro-rock
that blurs the lines between traditional
rock and electronic music.

Comprised of members from 4 different countries, this band has gathered various influences from bands such as Joy Division, Sex Pistols and electronica bands such as Prodigy and The Orb, and distilled them into a fresh electronic driven rock..or is it rock driven electronica ?

Sudden's live show gives us the angst and sense of danger of good old rock n' roll and the infectious rhythms of electronic beats , and gets the rock kids dancing and dance kids rocking...

Band Members:

Songwriter and singer Paul Edwards has performed under the name Sudden since 1996. As a live electronica act, Paul shared the stage
with English techno band Orbital, was invited to
the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2001 and
mixed live at Edgefest 2002[Toronto]. In 2004, Paul
returned to the studio and emerged with a new
direction and sound for Sudden. The resulting
music integrates Paul's past rock/punk influences
and current electronic sensibilities. Paul's lyrics revolve
around relationships and the struggles of everyday life.

Ryan Edwards[guitar], Paul's brother, spent the last four years in London, UK, promoting some of Europe's best electronic acts/Dj's, all while producing his own brand of abstract hip .hop. Released under the name 'kinben', a 12" pressing made it onto some serious playlists such as those of Ninja Tune's Coldcut. A multi-talented musician, Ryan recently was drawn back to Toronto to sling guitar for Sudden.

Slava Polyakov[drums] moved to Toronto from Kiev, Ukraine 2 years ago, where he played drums in the band daz machine. After tours and memorable live shows at some of Kiev's legendary clubs, Slava left Kiev and moved to North America...and,lucky us, he brought his beats. Sourced from many forms of music, including rock and drum n' bass, his rhythms are rock-solid, innovative, and passionate.

Adam Khedheri [electronics] mixes up the 0's and 1's for Sudden onstage, and is a champion knob-twiddler three years running.

Jay Curtis [guitar], a native of NY state, contributes an inventive, versatile and thoughtful guitar style, adding a unique dimension to the band's sound. While a contemplative individual, onstage Jay is not afraid to let feedback fly or unleash a wash of delay on willing audiences.
